Thanks guys! Oh, and one particular "thanks" I forgot (and hopefully before he read this):

PARTSRACK - They are like the glue that brought so much of this project together. It's one thing to get the "big" parts as needed through DLM, but when Doug or myself needed to find those specialized and hard-to-find parts for the Viper we knew where to turn: JonB. Thanks Jon!

Thanks Dave! Speaking of sound, one of my favorites is the idle: Went with the 708 cam (96-99) with a couple minor adjustments. Very nice lope to it at idle and great to just sit at a light and get the gentle shaking. Hope to get together with you guys sometime soon!

Another work of art by Doug Levin. Great reading, and the car looks like a beast. How streetable is the power? How much more power do you think with a more aggresive tune?
Thanks for the thread Doug and Chris :drive:

Ps. what happened to my avitar? I'm a viper owner!

Avatars and signatures are limited to VCA owners under the new format, see the announcement at the top of the forums. If you add your VIN to your profile we can verify it and change your title. You can join VCA by calling 800.998.1110 with credit card and vin in hand. Should be prorated to $80 this quarter, ahd yes, we are shamlessly trolling for new members. This upgraded site costs a lot more to maintain and as you may note we do not take donations. PM me with any changes.

Thanks for the note! With the current runflats the power has made 1st & 2nd gears almost obsolete. Oh, the car runs EXACTLY like stock for everyday driving, albeit a little louder and with a more "lumpy" cam. I would happily hand the keys to my kid as far as that goes. But in second gear if you nail it the power comes on so hard that you think you have it in neutral: The engine revs up fast because the back tires are simply spinning - at any speed. Third gear is where you can use the power and really pin yourself back in that seat.

As for a more aggressive tune, there are basically three things I could do that would be pretty darn easy:

1. Advance the timing and tune it for higher octane (95+)
2. Change the pulley to something more aggressive for more boost
3. Open up the exhaust a little more and get rid of the 2.5" outlets and crossovers

Results? The car should actually put down 900 at the tires as it sits - notice we bailed out on the dyno before even getting to 6000 RPM's and the trajectory was headed just north of 900. I may try another run shortly to see what it does, only this time to 6000. With a more aggressive tune and some race fuel it should hit around 950 fairly easily, while the pulley and exhaust would take it north of 1000 - at the wheels.

Personally, I am delighted with it just like it sits and don't plan to "upgrade" anything outside of a couple minor cosmetic things. We shall see!

And as far as that avatar - what Lee says. :D

Thanks again for the note.

are you running the stock tires? switching to Mich PS2, Kumo, Toyo, Hoosier will get rid of 60% of this issue & let you hook up and take off much more safely.

sweet build, congrats on the great running car! :2tu:
