I'm debating whether to paint white or silver stripes on my Red 98 GTS. I like the stripes but will it de-value the car to take it from original. Low miles and still smells like leather ( I leave my jacket in the back).:usa:

Stripes look great! But long term stock touched cars will always have more value.

My 2 pennies... add the stripes and enjoy!

Definitely stripes. My ADVICE is to try vinyl for a few years to make sure it's the right move for YOU. My OPINION is that silver and white are the best colors for your car. I'd go silver!

Man!!! Looks like I have my winter project. Looks unanimous on stripes. Now the Vinyl or paint debate. I do my own paint so that's OK just more time than tape. Like the tape idea since if you put back to stock it's less work but it seems you would still have a paint fade that would show when the stripes were removed.. Then again if painted it would have smooth edges. Plus have the extra deep coats of clear. ??? Man , you guys got me going now??:dunno: :2tu:

Your ride is a reflection of your personality.

If you like stripes you do it! Do what makes you happy in life, you only go around once. I'm putting white stripes on mine. I'm thinking of doing vinyl this year and repainting the whole car next year and at that time paint the stripes on under the clear. Remember I'm the guy who drilled holes in my quarter panels just to put a wing on. It's all about style and choice.

I say do it!

Paint fade will NOT be an issue unless you park the car outside in the sun a great deal of time. The vinyl is easily repairable if you get a ***** in it too. If done right using a good vinyl thats not TOO thick, most can't tell if it's paint or not. I have had many people stand a few inches a way from mine and ask if it's paint.
By the way, there is a noticable edge with paint, at least on the newer Vipers. Python Pete has a bumblebee coupe and you can absolutely feel the ridge where the stripe starts. I don't know why you do, but you do.

I did a DIY paint stripe and roof scoop almost a year ago. Repainted the front facia, fixed a door chip and re-did the side sills as well. Not only looks great, but a fun way to increase the overall "Viper" experience. I say if you have any skills with paint, go the paint/clear coat. Kids helped and learned a lot too so that kept the MRS. happy at the same time!!

Stripe it up. I personaly prefer white on red as opposed to the silver on red, but either is awsum. A Viper needs to be stiped. It wil aslo improve your track times :2tu:
