Paint is finally going on......

Jay bought two Gen II doors with the glass and motors already in place. That way I did not have to figure out that geometry. (I have hooked power to them and they do work perfectly!) If I didn't make myself clear you need to use two "sets" or four pieces of weather stripping for the doors. (two per side) When the Gen II door is installed you will see immediately what needs to be done. The Gen I door seal is used all around the back side or B post right up to probably about 6"s from the top front. This is where you can cut the front seal, give or take a couple of inches, then match the length to the Gen II seal for the front, use 3M- weatherstrip adhesive (part #051135) or the like to glue the seals together as one, put the new hand made seal in place and it's done.

If there is something else to this I don't know what it is??? The latches work excellent. The doors still open inside and out the way they were designed and I of course used OEM hinges.

With all the interest from Gen I to Gen II doors, installing, painting and sealing may be a business venture worth looking into

I would really love to see the complete "How to". It seems very simple what you are discussing with the weatherstripping 2 sets, etc. But what is not being discussed here ist he fact that the GEN 1's do not have power. If it really was as easy as throwing on some GEN 2 doors and 2 sets of weatherstripping, I would have done it long ago along with lots of other GEN 1 owners. I would LOVE to hear how the power was done, where the switches went, (I am told GEN2 console cannot be put in a GEN 1) Believe me i really want to do this project, but not if it is going to be Thousands and thousands over cost of materials.

I'll be doing the electrical after I carry her home. Instructions will follow. I am searching for the "Easy circuit" adder right now, can't remember where I saw it, but it basically plugs into the fuse socket in place of a fuse, replaces the fuse, and provides another fused circuit.

It looks like you have an Autoform top.... if so it would need to be replaced with one that would fit the flat-top windows. I ended up buying both Gen II soft and hard tops, and the Gen II sportpad you mentioned, plus misc. other items I'll cover when I do the "write-up".

I hate to drag this thread up so I can get personal info - BUT-------------
Have any of you painters used the AO Safety Quick Fit masks??-
They are rated for isocyanates- and even though they don't have a first stage filter, they
fit nicely and for $147 they should be able to handle a small paint job.

I was at the Sherwin-Williams Auto paint store picking up some paint, and got to talking
about spraying urethane paint. The paint guy showed me a full face shield mask with cartridge filters that was rated for isocyanates. It's been awhile since I've painted, so
I had to look twice at the rating - I'm used to seeing the charcoal canister filters.
The mask had a perfect snug fit, unlike many of the ******** masks I had used before.
So I was just wondering how long this has been around, and how effective was it.
If it had limitations, it was not mentioned on the package - just that it was effective for filtering isocyoates when spray painting.

are those pinstripes totally straight? they look a little off on the hood and the front bumper. other than that, great paint job!!

I was searching for info on LED taillights and came across this old thread.... what ever happened with this Viper? Anyone ever see final pictures? It sure was looking good!!!

I can only see pages 1 and 5 on this thread??? Anyone else having this problem? It tells me it's forbidden...
