Brake problems

The brakes on my GEN I have been different ever since I got the car (2 1/2 years ago) and even more so after I changed the fluid and brake pads on them (1 year ago). The brakes are very stiff with little pedal travel. My main concern is that it takes a lot of pressure to apply the brakes. (I kind of like the little pedal travel for the track)

At first I thought this was just a Viper problem but then I let a few viper owners (GEN II viper owners to be exact) drive the can and they too where concerned about my brakes and don't feel that it is normal. They think it is the master cylinder. I am not sure what to think. :(

Please Help,
Dan

I drove a GenI at Sebring. While it was completely different than my 97 I liked the short pedal travel and didn't find excessive pedal pressure required. Just my observation, not saying there isn't anything wrong with yours. Maybe there is. What kind of pads does it have? I would check the pads first.

One of the most notable improvements of the Gen2 over the Gen1 was the modulation of the brakes. I noticed it on the very first spirited drive in my GTS. The Gen2 booster is a straight bolt-on and well worth the price. There are quite a few crashed cars that you can get a good booster off of.

Gen I's have little travel to begin with, but maybe your pads ****. I would also check the vacuum line going into the brake booster for any cracks.

Yellows are a track pad. I used them a few years ago and was so disatified with them I felt like suing EBC for wasting a track day for me. I hear they have a new compound since I used them. If they still don't stop then switch to PFC 01, PFCs will put you threw the windshield.

I installed A Gen 2 power booster on my '94 several years ago. The difference was dramatic. Definitly better feel and modulation.
