Will let you know how to view this event as asap.

EVENT: Webcast of Factory Preview of 2008 Viper
DATE: Saturday, June 23, 2007
TIME: Approximately 10 AM 2 PM Pacific Time

The 2008 Viper is just around the corner. You’ve heard about it. You’ve read about it. Now you can learn about it first hand from SRT. The Viper Club of America, Northern California Region is proud to present a webcast of our advanced preview of the 2008 Viper. And it’s not just any 2008 Viper, but the King Snake itself, the Dodge/Mopar Viper Concept Coupe. With its 675 horsepower and all-business silver and flat black paint scheme, this snake is ready to defend Viper’s title against any challengers.

Our guest speaker is Jeff Reece, right hand man to Herb "Keeper of the Viper Holy Grail" Helbig from SRT/Team Viper. Jeff will give fill us in on the technical improvements and changes engineers made to improve the already astounding performance of the Viper.

If you can't attend the event in person, you can watch it over the internet by ________________

Fred or anyone else who will be attending this event in person:

I would really appreciate it if you could ask about the availability of the Mopar parts on this car, specifically, the Mopar cold air intake and the Mopar cat-back exhaust.

Also, I have heard that adding the SRT-sourced parts on the Concept Coupe, such as the Litex pistons, titanium rods, free-flow intake manifold will void the warranty. Can you confirm if this is true?

Thanks in advance for any information you can get about these parts.

Disturbed,

This event is being held in the Bay Area, aka San Francisco Bay Area, so being in LA puts you about 400 miles south.

I still don't have an address. Try contacting Fred Kinder.

I just got back...it's about 9:00pm. What a day! I drove almost 750mi. I'll keep this very short for now....

The 08 is going to be a great platform to build on. With the "Cam in Cam" that we now have, the idle is sooo smooth it really will hide the monster under the hood. The new ECU is a work of art, the diff, the trans…OUR SRT boys have done us proud.

The only request I have for the new Chrysler corp is that you, let the SRT boys attack the track again(like the old GTS-R program). Not only would this viper destroy everything the Euro trash can throw at it, it will give the C6R program a beat down that will make them beg.

The viper is all about Over the top looks and performance, it is not for the meek. The SRT/Mopar monster you have shown us is just what the viper needs to be...over the top and proud.

OK…off to sleep now.

I'm no authority on racing, but I thought I read somewhere that the changes in the engine actually excludes it from a lot of the high end races (LeMans, etc). That's why the comp coupe is keeping the old engine design. Can Chuck, BillP or anyone familiar with the rules chime in?

As far as not letting the engine into LeMans, the only thing I can think of that can stop it from running would be the new the cam setup. Just remove it. I don't think the ci size would affect it as it is the production size. I don't see any issues that can not be overcome. But I'm on the outside looking in.

Vipers belong in Le Mans.....Period.....Keeping the Viper out of Le Mans is like breaking a race horse legs and letting it live.....Let it do what it was born to do...Dominate Le Mans.....New owners please let the beast roam, pillage and plunder ALMS again......

I am fairly confident that the maximum liter size to race in LeMans is 8.0L:

The current restrictor-based formula has attracted fewer major manufacturers to Le Mans than the previous fuel-consumption formula. This in turn has increased the interest for the two GT classes for which only homologated production models (suitably modified for racing) are eligible. In both the LM GT1 and LM GT2 classes, the maximum allowed engine capacity is 8.0 liters, and more running-gear modifications are allowed in GT1 than in GT2.

Snake Bitten,

I agree 110%.

Albert,

Sounds like the '08 motor may to be de-stroked.

But don't the CC have the GenIII 8.3L V10??? We all know the frame is outstanding. Areo could use a few tweeks.

I think a lot of people would love to be involved in a new GTS-R program. I'd quit my current job to do it...if I could.

I think that is correct. Rules change but it takes $$$ to change them and I don't think Dodge is willing to invest that much scratch.

However, the Viper might be able to enter the 2008 ALMS GT1 class. In fact, if that pathetic one-make (Vette) class even expects to be around next year the ALMS might have to pay manufacturers to enter.

That was a little bit of sarcasm. I don't really think the ALMS is gonna pay teams to enter their pathetic GT1 series.

2008 Viper won't destroy any eurotrash. GT3 RS, turbo, lambo gallardo sleggera or 430 will smoke out viper on any racetrack at any time. And I am rather not mentioning ANY hand garage built Ultima with ANY reasonably outputting Chevy V8.

DC, DO SOMETHING WITH THE WEIGHT!

Actually it would do it now if they weren't handicapped. All you have to look at is the FIAGT3 and you can see how bad they are handicapped. The Z06 is already handing the Euros their butt. If the Viper were unleashed and let out of the snake den they would devour the Euro mice.

I was talking about in FIA GT racing. In FIA it is beyond clear, that the Vipers are held back.

The only thing "street car" about a GT3 is that it has windows. The GT3 starts life as a Carrea. That's like putting a C6 up against a C6-Z06. Two completly different cars.

But....We will use the 911 GT3 RS(as it is the most bad ass 911 out) as our bench racing machine. Vs 08 Concept(I'll call it ACR because it's easier to type and I like the name.) Keep in mind the GT3 RS is a all out race car w/roll bar, race tires ect. The ride is HARSH.

08 ACR(use concept as ex...if it was made) up against a GT3. We will assume the guys at SRT got 100lbs out of the car with the use of lightwieght bits. Just for the record...it had no audio.

07 911 GT3 RS: 415hp, 300ft-lbs; 3031lbs. p:w= 7.303

08 Viper "ACR": 675hp, 575ft-lbs; 3350lbs p:w= 4.962

08 Viper 600hp, 560ft-lbs; 3450lbs p:w= 5.750

07 Carrera S 355hp, 295ft-lbs; 3131lbs p:w= 8.819

In the Accleration department...it is NO CONTEST..."even stock".

Now if we could just get some data on brakes and suspension. I could calc skid pad and braking.
