Stock vs stock on the track or street the 08 Viper will rule period!

It has the power to pull, including the exotics, or stay with any production(call at least 500 cars a year production for some definition) car. The brakes on the Viper are the best so now the only thing left is turning and the suspension and rear end improvements combined with the Viper's torque should be able to spank all comers.

The stock Gen III can beat a stock Z06 on various road courses. And the Z06 may be faster in some situations. The Z06 less weight gives it the edge in a straight line run but that is its only advantage.

I was talking about in FIA GT racing. In FIA it is beyond clear, that the Vipers are held back.

The only thing "street car" about a GT3 is that it has windows. The GT3 starts life as a Carrea. That's like putting a C6 up against a C6-Z06. Two completly different cars.

But....We will use the 911 GT3 RS(as it is the most bad ass 911 out) as our bench racing machine. Vs 08 Concept(I'll call it ACR because it's easier to type and I like the name.) Keep in mind the GT3 RS is a all out race car w/roll bar, race tires ect. The ride is HARSH.

08 ACR(use concept as ex...if it was made) up against a GT3. We will assume the guys at SRT got 100lbs out of the car with the use of lightwieght bits. Just for the record...it had no audio.

07 911 GT3 RS: 415hp, 300ft-lbs; 3031lbs. p:w= 7.303

08 Viper "ACR": 675hp, 575ft-lbs; 3350lbs p:w= 4.962

08 Viper 600hp, 560ft-lbs; 3450lbs p:w= 5.750

07 Carrera S 355hp, 295ft-lbs; 3131lbs p:w= 8.819

In the Accleration department...it is NO CONTEST..."even stock".

Now if we could just get some data on brakes and suspension. I could calc skid pad and braking.

(08 Viper "ACR": 675hp, 575ft-lbs; 3350lbs p:w= 4.962)
That ACR does have a nice ring to it:2tu:

For anyone who attended, any interesting information shared at the NorCal event regarding the 2008 Viper? Thanks.

Honestly, I think they could get the weight down to about 3250lbs in a "ACR". 675hp, 575ft-lbs and 3200lbs....that would make us weekend track guys VERY happy. Isn't a F430 or GT3RS that would touch that. And that, would be putting the Viper right were it needs to be...giving the Euro cars a beat down.

Come to think of it....675hp and 3250lbs...hummm sounds a lot like it would need a Enzo to play with.

I agree...ACR just has a ring to it. Or, they could call it a GT3...just to piss off the P-car. :D...then maybe run in FIA GT3.

Nothing much new about the 08 that we haven't already had on this website. But maybe they didn't talk about the suspension changes. (shocks, spring rates, toe in/out, camber and caster.) The changes were made because of the new tires (non run flats) :2tu:

We don't care how smooth the engine idles. In fact, we prefer it to shake and rattle.

I love the shake and rattle too (I have a nice cam in my car) But the whole "cam in cam" had to be done so the car could pass smog tests. We can't get arould it. I thought the Concept car they showed us wasn't loud enough. It seemed really tame for all the power it had. Sounded somewhat deeper than a GenIII.

Or CR-2, a nod to Briggs Cunningham's Le Mans racer.

And it had a HEMI

Fascinating guy for those that are interested. He built this all American race car to compete in Le Mans in the 1950. He even has a corner named after him at Sebring.

2008 Viper won't destroy any eurotrash. GT3 RS, turbo, lambo gallardo sleggera or 430 will smoke out viper on any racetrack at any time. And I am rather not mentioning ANY hand garage built Ultima with ANY reasonably outputting Chevy V8.

DC, DO SOMETHING WITH THE WEIGHT!

Hate to break it to you bro but if you look at the latest C&D article of the VIR lightening Lap you would see that both Z06/Viper had faster times than the Porsche 911 and GT3....Remember that the Viper and Z06 dont have race compounds stock like the GT3 has...Just imagine what would have happened if the Z06/Viper had similar rubber....I wouldnt go as far as calling them Eurotrash:lmao:I love those cars too...But they arent head and shoulders above the American iron...Better buiolt etc but performancewise its not like it used to be...

BTW even a European mag, EVO tested a stock Z06 vs a GT3 Cup car and hte Z06 won by a few tenths....Its a shame that some still underrate the Vette Viper when it comes to roadcourse accumen.....They may not be as polished as its European counterparts but they sure are as capable.....
