Does anyone have their website link or a phone number?

Am I the only one who is having issues with these things backing off and coming apart?
I have had two in the last 3000 miles loosen off and come apart. It seems that at high RPM's (6000 RPM) the push rods must spin the set screws loose.
I'm temped to use lock tight on the jam nuts or simply step up to a better system such as T&D's or Jessels. However I don't have the dispossable cash for the them at the moment.

Anyone one having the same issues? :crazy2:

It's a simple jam nut concept. Pretty hard to screw that up. Problem is that even when they have been tightened.....after time they work themselves loose.
I know of another case in which this has happened.
Just wondering if there are others out there and what they did to prevent this from happening.

Installed a set of T&D's and they have been working perfectly.

I've posted many times about these rockers, in short I think they're crap. Just my opinion.

I was going to buy these, I have some on my Mustang and their pretty darn good.....BUT PBJ said the Viper ones are crap and mentioned how they always work loose, so i decided against it. T&D rockers are the ones he suggested to me. I plan on getting them down the road.

Actually now that I think of it, my Mustang is broken down, I had my buddy drive it to my house for me from my parents and it all of a sudden it started making a clunking noice, he said it was either from the tranny or somewhere in the rear of the engine, I think it might be a rocker that fell off? I'll have to tear it apart when i get home.

thats about the best way to put it. except i couldn't swing the cash for the jessels

and i think it goes like this...

HS=$500
T&D=$900 (from mike 99 r/t10)
JESEL=$1300

Excuse me for not knowing because I only have stockers, but does this jam nut hold the pivoting shaft in place? I'd put locktight on them for sure. (266 Threadlocker High Temp./High Strength - 450 degrees F - from Loctite #26772)

I didnt do it cause i know they require adjusting after startup sometime and im gonna be checking them once or twice a year

No, there's an adjuster where the pushrod contacts the rocker arm. The locknut is supposed to keep the adjuster from loosening.

I have the Harland Sharps and I'm regretting not biting the bullet and ponying up the extra clams for the Jesels. Mine haven't loosened up yet but I'm not very impressed with the overall quality of the H.S.'s. Also, I had to clean metal shavings out of nearly every rocker arm before I installed them! ***?

My Harland sharps have performed flawless. I have over 16k miles on mine. I've never had one back off nor have I had to go back and adjust any. Best bang for the buck IMO!

Almost 7,000 miles since this May. Zero problems to date. I'll check them over the winter...was going to anyway.

It's possible you have a low quality set, maybe slipped past QC...metal shavings? I'd call Harland about it and see if they'll replace them for you.

DON'T USE high strength!
Medium at max. I believe the medium is the blue and the high is the red. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm pleased with the peformance I have gained from the HS RR's, but very displeased with the potential engine damage they have presented.
believe me, if I had the cash, I would be running the Jessels.

I put Jesels on mine. I would guess that you have an adjustment problem and / or you have the wrong length pushrods. I don't have any experience with HS, but with Jesel you had to measure to get the correct pushrod length, and then buy new pushrods. It was also a beech to get them adjusted correctly. It took me two attempts and some coaching by some of the members and Tator.

Why???:dunno: My first viper and it was a piece of cake!Have you adjusted any valves before with overhead valve motors?:confused:

The only issue adjusting the rockers I found was that the hydrualic tapits will leak down over time, making adjustment difficult.

If you snug the nut up, then tighten the set screw AND the nut at the same time they WILL NOT come loose (works with any adjustable rocker) In fact, next time you adjust the rockers you will swear at a few of them when trying to loosen them ;) I ran my Arrows for over two years with zero problems. PM me for a number if you want to call.
I would advise against using any lock tight.

I noticed a couple of mine seemed to compress MUCH easier than the rest. :confused:

I'm sure Tony has done a bunch of these. I agree that Loctite is only a band-aid. I think technique is the issue here. Call Tony or Chuck.

:) I had an extenisve conversation with Sean Roe prior to purchasing the Harland Sharp roller rockers. He indicated that they use them all the time and have had no problems. I have had no issues to date after 5000 + miles.

The way I am talking you start with the adjustment a little loose...1/8 - 3/16 turn or so from where you want to be. Snug the nut then turn the adjuster and nut together to get where you want it. It takes a little practice to know how much they will turn together and even then you will want to back the occasional one back off and do it again because it won't stop where you want it to. I put quite a bit of tightening pressure on them when I pull the nut/adjuster at the same time.

The instructions suggest 20ft/lbs, but I gave them a little more than that just for good measure.

I got a call from Harland Sharp the other day.
They asked me to send them all back for inspection and possible replacement.
Sounds like they were getting their set screws from an outside supplier a few years back (they are manufacturing their own inhouse) and were not happy with the consistency of the product.

They definately have GREAT customer service.
