Hi,

I talked to Alan O'Leary at Carl Haas Automobile Imports, 500 Tower Parkway, Lincolnshire, IL 60069 yesterday about rebuilding my Dynamics. He mentioned that these were originally designed not to be rebuilt but that he can modify and then rebuild them at about $300-350 each. He was referred directly from the Dynamic Suspensions website.

Hi,

I think this is the number on my "ID" (he called me on my cellular while I was at the hospital): 847-209-8896

Sorry if it's not the right one......

Thanks cd55....i will try it later.did call Jon at partsrack and he said a little leak is not unusual.I also bought a set of lower rate springs for the rear.He as well as many others have said the rears are WAY to stiff on the ACR(1100lbs)I think the ones i just bought are 800lb.I will post up on the results asap.:headbang:

I had a little leak at first and had no problems until sometime later. For me, the sign that I had to get the rears rebuilt was that I got a metallic "knock" out of the rear suspension when I went over something as minor as a manhole cover. I believe that was the upper seal so worn that it allowed the shock's piston shaft to move back and forth just a small amount, resulting in the knocking noise. JonB also recommended the 800lb springs to me, and I found them to be a definite improvement with no apparent downside.

How many miles on your car when the shock went bad?

Right!

As kcobean wrote: 2000_Black_RT10 is the best person considering the DS-ACR-shocks!
He knows what he's talking about (...not that others don't...;-))

Send him a PM! He can help!

Good luck
Edi

I had mine done by Alan O'Leary at Carl Haas Automobile Imports in the spring of 2006. Nice guy. My search here in the forums at that time didn't reveal any of the other suggestions that were made above. I don't recall the price from back then, but it was substantial. I'd assume the price quoted above must be correct for now. It did take quite a while for mine since he was out of town supporting some testing with a race team. I think that I was down for two months, but the time for the actual rebuild was shorter. Just call or email them and ask for him. See: Dynamic Suspensions
I'd also suggest contacting Jon at PartsRack since I think I saw in another thread recently that he has rebuilt ones for exchange. I hadn't even thought of asking about that back then. There is also 2000_Black_RT10 that you should also consider contacting, based on the recommendations above.

Can't quote a flat rate since some dampers require more work than others, if the shaft needs replacing etc. Typically it's 2 to 4 hours, which includes a dyno & tuning the matching set. There was a post regarding any left over ACR damper tools, still looking.. didn't forget.
