Anyone see the short article in the most recent Viper mag on page 45? I know I am a bit behind on my reading since I just received it. Anyways, the engine is listed at 550hp and 590lb tq. Impressive. I am curious where they got the extra power from. They list a few features including the cam which is spec'd at:

intake/exhaust: lobe lift .320/.0320, duration @ 0.050
220.0/230.5, centerline at 117 degrees

Now since I am no engine builder, i was curious whether this is the the stock cam or possibly the comp coupe cam or maybe some new performance cam?

They do list some other features but I dont think you will see 50 from new stiffer push rods or spring shims. The performance however could be from blueprinting.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Also what is the high performance oil filter listed?

The oil filter is discussed in some other threads, it was apparantly a give away at VOI 9, but anyway, it can now be ordered through dealers. Everyone is swithing to it for added oil pressure, but not sure it creates additional HP or TQ.

No, the oil filter doesn't do anything for horsepower but it is additional insurance for the extra horsepower for keeping rapidly reciprocating and rotating parts oiled! I'm also curious where the additional power is coming from because the cam (I think that's the competition coupe cam) by itself is only good for the advertised additional 8 hp or so. Blueprinting gets you 50 hp?
