I'm not sure if this is appropriate or not, but I think if I lost my father I'd appreciate his mentioning on here too, as us Car guys are something special.

Last Night, I received a call from my very good friend Ron Durchin (Zen Garage), and he gave me the unfortunate news that his father had passed away yesterday.

Ron's father was a fellow car nut like us all, and obviously passed that wonderful trait on to his son Ron, as Ron has owned a collection of cars any of us would be envious of.

However, that pails in comparison to the greatest traits he passed on to his son: Caring, compassion, dedication, being a great father & husband , being a great friend, honesty, and a host of character traits I have never seen in one individual before having the pleasure of befriending Ron.

So with that I'd like to say to Ron and Family, that our prayers are with you and yours and if there is anything Hannah and I can do, please don’t hesitate to give us a call and let us know.

My sincerest sympathies,

Jon

Very appropriate. Ron is a good guy and has an incredible collection of cars from just what we have seen here. I am sure the apple didn't fall far from the tree and his dad obviously influenced him to be who he is today. Our condolences to Ron and his family.

My deepest sympathies-I can relate as I lost my dad on October 4th to a massive and unexpected heart attack. He got me hooked on cars-I even rode home from the hospital on my mom's lap in his '72 Stingray! (try that today!)
It was a massive loss for me as I am sure it is for Ron, the only thing getting me through it now is faith and all the great memories that I have of him.

God bless, and so sorry for your unfortunate loss

Sorry to hear about this. Ron's a great guy and a good friend.
Having lost my father, as I am sure a lot of us have, I know exactly how he must feel.

As a father myself, I can see this rite of passage in a different perspective too. Life is a strange and often cruel cycle without other alternatives.

Jon,
That is the nicest thing I have ever heard you say. Thank you.

My father made me the man I am today and for that I am forever grateful. I was fortunate enough to spend a great deal of time with him throughout his life. He lived it to the fullest and embraced everything he did.

Great tribute to a friend and his father. I think this is a very appropriate place to tell us about Ron's dad. I think we all hope that some of the things we do in life are shared with others with like interests, and obviously Gearhead Ron received his share of blessings in the horsepower loving arena from his father - along with many of the true things that make us quality human beings. Thanks for sharing and my condolences to Ron and his family.

You are welcome Ron, and as I stated my prayers our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am going to make a point to be there tomorrow, and hopefully if we can get Hannah out of one of her classes, she will be able to join me.

Ron I believe I can say I know what your going through-I lost my father quite a few years ago and I still really miss him. But I have a great wife and my 92 year old mother that is in great health that I have a hard time keeping up with.

I think you can see by the responses that we really have caring people in the VCA.

God Bless

Gene

Ron, terrible news. Sorry to hear about the loss. Hasn't been a good year for many. If it's any consolation, and I think you hit upon the point, he led a full life. That's a comforting feeling. I had lost my dad when I was 15. I can tell you from my side of the fence, both you and him were lucky to share a life together. God bless.

Jon - I hope you don't mind but I put your post on the Alley. It was such a great very touching post.

Ron does post some on the Alley and I am sure the members would want to know about the passing of Ron's father.
