OK, after year's of dreaming, my dream will become a reality in the next year, I can finally afford to buy a Viper. But now my wife is adament about buying a car that has more than 2 seats. You see the thing we just had a son and that's what she's holding me to, that we won't be able to drive around for family cruises. She has absolutely no problem with me spending the money, or that I want a sports car, it just has to have back seats for the baby. But how many REAL sports cars are there out there that have back seats, or back seats with child seat anchors???

What can I do to convince her otherwise?

I'm afraid that there is only one thing for it... :(

Divorce... :rolaugh: (And/Or a second car with more seats)

I have a wife and two kids (2 1/2 years old and 9 weeks old)... My Wife wanted me to have my dream, and even encouraged me to do so... :drive:

Must add: Can't keep my two and a half year old daughter out of the Viper... She loves it! She's been out in it more than my wife has, by a long shot!)

I had the same problem - so after investigation into the real issue -- I got my wife a 350Z roadster and all was fine. Kid drives with me or with the wife (she drives slower than me - so the kid is usually with her)

Same concept here.

Wife has a corvette (girls car anyway). :lmao: I got the Viper and we have a Yukon for any family business. :2tu:

An M5 has a back seat with CSA, but is boring in style when compared to the Viper. Why must the "new" car be the one used for family cruises? :dunno:

I often wish I had a cool sports car with a back seat, like an M6 or something along those lines. So I can understand her a little. But on the other hand the reality of it is, it is not the same going out with the kid in the car because you want to take that extra care to not break the speed limit even a little.

My wife has the GTS and I have the Old Yellow Gen I, the way I prefer it. My daughter will go on short rides with us to the local car show in the GTS with my wife driving and I take the Gen I. Works good, but not the same as going out alone. Funny thing is we just don't get out as much as we used to. None the less one day my daughter will be older and I will feel more comfortable with her riding in the Vipers.

Here is a pic of her ready to go to Chryslers in Carlisle.

Maybe showing her the price of an Aston Martin or Ferrari GTB may make her reconsider.

So when you want to take the son out, what, house doesn't need to be cleaned ? Maybe the Viper has two seats for another reason.

I can't take the Spousal "Allowance" thing. Does not exist in my house.

When it comes to MY car, I typicaly do what I want. I let the wife ***** but I never hear a word she is saying because the radio is too loud. :D

Sell your DD, and buy some **** box (I have a Kia) Buy the wife a SUV/family car, then buy a Viper. Otherwise, she will nag you to death.

The truth is, most wife's don't want a husband to have a nice sports car, because it attracts young hot girls.

Don't tell this to my fiance or she won't let me buy one either.

I was worried initally that my fiance would not let me get one, but I've started to wear her down...I mean prepare her for it in advance, that way in a couple years she'll be like fine, just buy the darn car already :D

Cobra C, good luck with the argument. My only advice would be to try to get her to understand just how much you like the car and get her to fall in love with it as well.

Get ready when they go out for the shopping sprees and buy the shoes and clothes that you'll give to the salvation army in five years with tags still on it !!!!!!!!!!

Then I want to hear them bi*ch about how you spend money !!!!! Women waste more $$$ than you can spend on a Viper.

AND, what about all the side view mirrors that will get laped off the family car as she pulls in and out of the garage, and the corners shaved off the bumpers, and the disgusting mess the inside of the car becomes with all women sh*t thrown all over the place !!!!!! The change stuck in the now shorted out cigarette lighter, the verticle lines of scratches on the rear bumper because she didn't pull the car in far enough before closing the garage door. Give me a break !!!!!!! And she won't LET you do something ?????????

It's a two way street guys.

With a newborn your wife won't have time for family trips for at least a couple of years with the diaper changes, ****** and/or bottle feeding, crying, fits, naps, runs, etc. Let's not forget her household duties epecially cleaning. By the time your wife finds the time to go on a trip with you...she'll want alone time and not want to bring the baby along. Hence a 2 seater is fine. Keep your **** hand strong!:D

1. Invite her on the beefcake thread.:D
2. Get involved with the local club to meet other wives and see how much fun the ownership of a Viper is. The events and cruises.
3. Promise to take your child in car for drives so she can have some quality alone time just for her. Keep your promise-you are only as good as your word-remember that when you get the Viper.;)
4.Scare up a fund just for babysitters and make sure you have a list of them for when you go out in the Viper with your wife.
5.There are other things but not for discussion here:eater:
Good luck!

Well, herin is the trap. She probably didn't say "I won't LET you do this..." but more along the lines of "I'm not saying Yes or No, its up to you, I won't stop you, but....". Bottom line here is this: This is the start of many debates...but this is the DEFINING moment. How you handle this Viper purchase will set the stage and tone for all purchase decisions to come. Hold your ground man, don't give into her. Don't let her gain an advantage here. :)

I am fortunate enough to have a great wife that really understands me. I am 27 and I have a Harley and a Viper, with no ******** ever from the wife. First, it comes down to a matter of affordance, which you clarified is not the problem. I will say that my wife's interest in the viper has grown substantially since I got it. She loves to go to the local club meetings and really enjoys the attention we get in it when we go out somewhere. I would stress that the car will be driven seldomly and you would prefer only when it is the two of you. Whatever you do, do not give up. She WILL eventually budge and let you get your dream. Do whatever you have to including sulk, act depressed, complain, look at them all day online, leave pics of them on the table, ect. and it will pay off. This car is well worth it.

i am with you andrew. i have always had only one big dream in my life, and that was to own a viper. life is too damn short, and nobody is going to step on my dream(s), and i dont care who he/she is.

car or not, if i stood in the way of my sons dreams for instance, or anyone elses dream for that matter, i would be instantly labeled as a schmuck, and rightfully so. if the bills are paid, the kids have clothes on their backs, you live comfortably, and you arent asking anyone else to pay the bills related to that dream, i say DO IT and never look back.

Ok ok you're right. I was just trying to be polite. My fiance knew 3 years ago that one of my goals in life was to own a Viper. She understands this and is cool with it. And even though she might not completely admit it, I think she is excited for it. So, as long as I don't put us in any financial danger, I am going to buy the car as soon as my daily driver is paid off. 16 months encounting...

There was someone many moons ago that took out the center speakers and installed a built in baby seat! I think it was in an early issue of Viper mag.

As for me, I had an agreement: The wife got a kid, and I got a car. Even had the agreement raised-stamped nototized.:2tu:

Honestly you do need a family car if you don't areadly have one. I have 5 children and they are all mine with the same beautiful woman of 16years and I am only 35. Anyway something she likes to drive and you all like as a family first. If thats done read further---

Talk to her about how beautiful she will look all dressed up sitting in that viper. Tell her it will make you want to romance her more by taking her out on expensive dates so you can see her all dressed up riding in that hot car. Ohh yea mention too that you will be running a lot more errands for her without complaining etc. That will go a long ways. I used to hate going to blockbuster to get kid movies etc. Not anymore ;) Yea and if you get really blessed she will dress up for you and pose for your AVATAR:2tu:

Do what I did. Buy the Viper, Park it out front covered where you can see it. And then wait until you take a trip to the store with her on a windy day to find the cover has blown off and there seats your Viper. When she ask, "I know thats not your viper" say "No, its not" then walk her to the car (non viper) open her door and then go over to the viper, put the cover back on. Now go back to her in the car, and say "I was going to tell you". True store. I told mine I was getting a Viper, even showed her pictures of the color I wanted. Hey, its my money, and I have a 4 door sedan also. Not to much she could say. Oh, Half way to the store she was hitting me in the arm smiling. (She loves the car).

Go for it.:2tu: :D

Or divorce is an option. Question is, how much do you love your wife? Viper never nags or as to go furniture shopping or to the home store to pick up bed sheets or towels (which all look the same). And the Viper only ask for a full tank of gas, the wife-purses, shoes, clothes, money, rings, earring.......
