Had a few minutes, so just reviewed ivr.viperclub.org build info and all cars '92-'06 including overseas, RT/10, GTS, ACR, SRT coupe & vert comes to roughly 25,531. Just crazy to consider there are more corvettes built every year than Vipers built in 15 years!!!

why do they sell so many more corvettes? They just don't make that many vipers? Vettes are less expensive? what?

Think about how many have been wrecked so the actual number still in existence is even lower.

you could probably reduce that number by at least 2000 for totaled ones.

With 11,273 355's and over 11,000 360's plus a bunch of Testarossas, 550's, 575's, 430's 348's, 612's and a few Enzo's and F-50s, I would wager that there were many more Ferrari's produced in that same period than Vipers.

I sure see a lot more Ferraris around here than Vipers.... unfortunately.

i would think there would be a minimum of 3000 to 5000. i base this on all the parts you see for sale on ebay and think how many stories you see on the forums over the years of totalled vipers.

I read on this forum that the amount of wrecked Vipers could be as high as 20%. I, unfortunately removed a 98 GTS myself last summer.

Sobering thought, be careful out there.

TestaRossas numbered over 9,000 alone, but remember that you're comparing "Make" and "Model" with Ferrari and Viper. Agreed that the Viper is by most any standard a low production car. When you break down options, colors per year, and all it gets frighteningly low.

My 2000 steel gray with Cognac GTS is one of 52, which may not make a hill of beans to collectors later, but it'll make my ad if it comes up for sale. In that respect, the Viper is far more rare than many other cars that are "considered" rare.

Sometimes, rarity is for a reason, such as nobody wanted the silly things. The Viper was/is an uncompromising car, NEVER intened for all. I believe it's attributes will be greatly coveted in the future, with prices to support that. For the time being, I covet mine!
