I sold my 96 B/W last October with the intent of getting a new 08. I got frustrated waiting on confimation of my order and bought a new Vette as a fluke, but I am growing to like it. It runs hard and is a good DD, even though it sits in the garage. I knew I would be getting another Viper and my wife is pushing me to get one, so I am going for another 96 B/W and put it in the garage for safe keeping. I will drive the Vette and save the Viper. I know there are some nice one's in classifieds, but if there are any others out there that are not advertised, let me know. Thanks :2tu:

Good choice, aside from a GTSR, the 96 B&W is the #1 Viper to have and keep.

Those are priced pretty high considering the market right now. But I'm sure there are plenty of ppl with the money who want a perfect b/w with the money to do so.

He's had some of them for a looooong time. He can ask whatever he wants, but he is NOT getting 60K for them, not now maybe not ever.

heck, there was a couple of nice GTSs that sold for 35k in the past couple weeks, one had 100,000 in upgrades, the other had a 4,000 set of wheels and both had under 15k miles with clear titles. For 10g more you could have two! maybe not B/W, but who cares eh?

That sounds like some good prices. I agree that prices are down across the board in general. I plan to try to go to Bernie's in a couple of weeks to check out his stock. I was there before and his stock was nice at the time and I am sure he is still the same way. I am really particular and don't mind paying for quality; however, I am not going to get hammered in the process. Since I posted this, I have broadened my horizons a little and will look at 02 FEs, and may stretch a little to a 98 GTS-R. Thanks for everybody's input. :2tu:

I'd like to get my hands on a low mileage stock FE.
That and my B/W and I'd have the best of the best.

The problem for Bernie is that some of the cars he has, like that 96 B/W with 19K on it, he paid a lot for. In fact, I know exactly what he paid for it because he bought it from a guy 5 miles from me. And that B/W he has with like 400 miles on it, he has had that for along time, so he paid big money for it. Tough to recoup that now in this market.

Some of you guys constantly amaze me, you love to devalue the car you own by talking down the prices...sigh. As for Bernies cars, if you have not been there and seen them you just can't know. There is showroom fresh and then there is showroom brand new. The higher priced cars are just that, showroom brand new. I sat in the bidders section at Barrett Jackson tonight and Bernie crossed my mind, if he had ANY of the cars there that are presumed to be too high priced he would have gotten at least 30% more. And it was only Thursday night, not the pumped up weekend fever.
And anyone actually in a BUYING mood other than a speculative internet gossip mode should pick up the phone and call him, I can't speak for him but you just might find that if you are a fine, upstanding individual who negotiates like a gentleman you might just get a nice little discount. If you are a Viper owner already and a VCA Member the red carpet will be rolled out. And he stands behind the car, that's worth paying a little more for.
And I know for a fact that Bernie has a sensibility regarding the used Viper market that revolves around NOT devaluing the car, and as an owner I appreciate that.

PM me if you really want one, there is one in the area with less than 500 miles on it...at least there was in December, but I could certainly find out if it is still available

Very altruistic of him. As an owner I appreciate it. As a buyer...not so much

Thank you PA, but that is TOO low for me. I want to drive it and enjoy it, not worry about putting miles on. I was thinking 8-15K area.

Good post and spot on. ;)

I bought my car from Bernie and couldn't have been more satisfied. It is in near perfect condition with a ton of mods. I bought it sight unseen because of Bernie's reputation. Buying from him was nice, smooth transaction. I got exactly what I paid for. If you haven't seen the quality of his cars firsthand then you really can't speak to the value (or undervalue) of his prices.

Why Is it I constantly feel attacks on something I am so passionate about. I guess the people that have dealt with me will continue and feel that I am fair. I take alot of phone calls and try and help people as much as possible. It's hard to explain without sounding defense. Lee and Tim thanks for the support.

Ummm.. attacks? Where exactly do you see attacks on this thread?
I see comments about prices, is that an attack on you?

I can tell you from owning a car that has came from Bernie and having Bernie sell a car from me that you will not find a better person to deal with on exotic cars. If you are looking for cars that are perfect, Bernie is your guy. I can tell you from looking at DOZENS & DOZENS of Vipers over the years there are a lot of less than spectacular cars on the market and you better really know Vipers inside and out to catch some of the issues. You will not find one of those cars in Bernies inventory becuase he knows Vipers.

For you guys that have plenty of time to search through all the forums-internet-auto traders, travel to see cars & risk getting a less than desirable car to save a few thousand $$ (if that) go for it. I don't have the time to sort through all the junk out there when I can call Bernie and have one shipped to me that I know looks like it just rolled out of CAAP and been inspected by Bernie. If you end up with a less than desirable Viper you can drop so much money in one trip to a dealership and take such a hit on the resale that it isn't worth the risk.

If you look at some of Bernie's cars in person...they will speak for themselves.:2tu:

And as a '96 GTS owner offering his car for sale, I appreciate your words here. It amazes me too, how many car owners in general (who may have paid too much for their car) want to bash the car market. Hey, I understand when sellers ask outrageous prices for their cars, that's obvious and should be counted in the ridiculous price category. But 50-60k for a gently used '96 GTS should never be lumped into a category that is called "overpriced".

The '96 B/W is a little more special in the Gen II Viper world, whether you will admit to that or not. I don't think it's wrapped in gold, or is the greatest car in the world, but it is something different and should be priced accordingly so. There is no way a low-mileage, history known, '96 GTS should be sold amongst the 20-40kmi. shady past, Vipers.

I also noticed that most of the posters on this Thread are sitting in the middle of winter, are probably a bit grumpy, might have seasonal disorder or downright depressed about this crap we live in for 4-5 months ! I am.........
And personally, I don't want to hear about the sad economy, and the real estate market that rode the high hog for years until now.......the car world, and car sellers, owners should not let the real estate market have any effect on the price of a '96 Viper GTS or any great muscle Car. I also don't let Barrett Jackson determine what is going on in the car world either. Fun to watch, to a certain extent, but it gets old real quick - year after year.

So, Lee00 -thanks for telling it like it is - owners can sometimes be their own doom and gloom when it comes to the market of their own cars.

The '96 Viper GTS.......AIN'T NO RESTO-MOD !!!!

In my mind a nice 96 B&W should be at least 50k, very reasonable to have exceptional examples at or around 60k. Any nice example of a GTS is worth 45-50k. That is what I have paid and will continue to pay for these cars, if I get another. The price should hold, and will only go up eventually. You get what you pay for, yes you could get lucky with someone trying to dump a car quick.
