I thought it would be humorous due to another recent thread posted. If anyone has an experience where someone "got away" feel free to post...not encouraging running from the cops, but I thought there may be some interesting stories that could possibly start out as "I knew somebody related to somebody that out ran"...;)

Now we're talking! :drive::headbang:

I once knew someone that outran the state highway patrol on his motorcycle on the interstate with speeds in excess of 150mph, but that's when I...oops I mean he was in his early 20's a few years ago. :D

Outrunning a cop on a motorcycle can mean death with one slip... I cant even imagine a motorcycle doing 150+ while trying to evade, thats about the most unsafe situation I can even think of.

I was allegedly racing a Ford Cobra Mustang (is it a snake, is it a horse? Or is it a fighter plane??) and we might have passed a State Trooper doing around 140 mph around 2 am when no other cars were around. He turned on his blue lights....then turned them back off and never came after us.

I would not outrun a cop now. The price is waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy to high to pay if caught! But, when I had my Vette in my 20's I did it all the time. I am ashamed to say me and my buddies (in Vettes, Stangs, 300ZX's, etc) would sometimes go look for and provoke a cop to chase us. I never got caught...but some of my pals did. It was not pretty.

I am too chicken to do it now...my wife can hear my Viper a mile away...I would simply stop and suffer the consequences!:(
And like someone said....thats just the cost of doing business!:D

For a split second, I thought about it. It happened to me in CT on Rte 9 about 2 years ago. I allegedly blew past an unmarked trooper (not realizing I did just that). I was allegedly doing about 130mph, it figures it was that one part of the cruise where my foot got a little heavy on the peddle. I saw his lights on from the rear view mirror but he didn't try to catch up. I pulled over anyway and waited for him. He pulled over and just shook his head, told me to slow down and let me go. He never had a chance to clock me otherwise it might've been a different story. He said he was just about to radio his partner up ahead when he saw me pull over. As it turns out, there was a speed trap setup leading into 84...if I had punched it his partner would've been waiting for me anyway. No use trying to outrun him, just not worth the risk. I mean, how difficult is it to spot a look-at-me Yellow Rt/10 on the highway? :D

I've heard that if you know the roads better than the pursuit car, you can manage to outrun them in an old Nissan 4x4 with a 4-******. Just dive into a side street once you clear the hill into Cheshire and kill the lights!

There is a Cheshire cop out there somewhere who may hold witness to an event in the mid-90s where a 3000GT VR4 blew past him at 160+ heading west on 68 past the reservoirs. The driver managed to move safely around/through all the traffic up to the first light in Wallingford, where he executed an e-brake slide into the oncoming lane to get around cars and effect a right-hand turn. He then bolted up a driveway into his friend's open garage, shut the door and prayed. His passenger had to check his pants.

Also, and I'm not going into detail, but NEVER play chicken with a cruiser. It might work, but it just ain't smart. Even I never had those kind of cojones.

Yeah, you gotta know the roads, and the backyards. Back in my Vette days I knew several neighborhoods that I could kill my engine and lights and coast thru someones backyard and emerge on a different street. I usually picked dead ends for that maneuver. I would lure the cop up the dead end, kill my lights and engine, and coast thru the yards until I got to the adjacent or parallel street...I would then coast down that street a ways, restart my engine and get out of there like a bat out of hell!

The cop would always think I pulled into someones garage and spend his time going from house to house!:lmao:
I got one cop so pissed b/c he wrecked his cruiser trying to catch me. He pulled up to me 3 hours later while I was at a hotel and threatened to arrest me. I told him that I had not been in the car, that my brother was driving the car all day and he had gone into town to a party. He asked where my brother was...I told him he was somewhere in town at a party, I didnt know exactly where. They asked what he looked like. I said he was 6'3", w/ blue eyes and blond hair (that was a lie)...the cop just gazed at me. I told him I was adopted (also a lie). They asked me his name. I said Ben Dover (get it?).:lmao:The cop got on his radio and put out an APB on a white male, 6'3" tall, blond hair blue eyes, name is Ben Dover...I almost peed my pants to keep from laughing....that was until when I went out to my Vette later that night I saw where the cop who wrecked his cruiser keyed my Vette!
But hey....it was still worth it!:2tu:

I would never run or try to elude. That would be dumber than going 150 in the first place.

Its not as hard as you think, I had a dream once were I was doing a wheelie. Undercoover cop pulls up next to me at light and asks me to pull over. Well I pull over and as he gets out of car, I take off. I had no plate, so i couldnt be identified. Well off I go, heading into town. Low and behold his radio was faster then me. 3 city cops waiting, trying to block me off. Make some lefts, rights and thru some back streets. Meanwhile Ive now got about 9 cop cars up and down each major street I turn on or cut across. Take a few more side streets, a long back road were I pass a cop who is up ahead in my lane trying to slow me down he is probably doing 60ish, I pass at 150 +. And off I go, few more streets, make a left/right /left /right etc. and Im headed home, get nike in garage and throw cover over it and I put cardboard over garage windows for a few months. In case anyone was following or saw something. This whole time in my dream the bike felt so stable and I must have been riding for many years, because it was all just instincts.
I beleieve I was about 19 or 20 in my dream. Strange..... Or maybe I saw it on a episode of cops, either way I just have a feeling it can be done and the bike handles just fine.;)

Though I admit its stupid and I would not condone such behavior, sometimes you live and learn.:2tu:

I passed a State Trooper at over 200mph in my Ford GT one time. I saw him, and he threw on his lights, but I was two exits down before he got his Crown Vic out of park! I got chased by a trooper for about 10 miles down winding two lane roads at speeds up to 160 or so when I was a freshman in college. I don't know that I have ever been that scared in my life! VERY stupid move, but it turned out better than the alternative!

I know exactly where that is, that's where I do my Vec log pulls, right between the reservoir :D. Tusc: Do you drive a yellow Viper? I always see a yellow Viper traveling through the center of Cheshire and down Rte 70 toward Wallingford. I'm usually catching it out of the corner of my eye and can't tell if its a GenII or SRT. I just see a yellow flash at the Rte 10/70 intersection. :D

I actually DID have a chick in the GT with me! She asked if I was gonna stop and I asked her if she wanted to go to jail, or at the very least bail me out! She responded with "STEP ON IT!" :drive:

You guys with Vipers who actually have the ****** to out run a cop must live in a very Viper populated area. If I ever tried that I might make it home that night, but the next day or next time I take my car out I would be in cuff's considering I am the only Viper owner I am aware of for 40 to 50 miles. I think I'll just pull over and take my licks right then and there. It ain't worth it, don't be stupid, and you will never ever out run a radio. Just my .02 cents

Heh heh - you and me both! Sometimes I wonder just how lucky I...err my friend was to have made it through his younger wild and foolish years alive.

A co-worker told me that I...err my friend had the local cops looking in earnest for the crazy guy on a motorcycle. The co-worker was at a bar with one of the cops who said that if they ever caught my friend he would be going to jail. I told the co-worker that my friend would probably tell the cop that he didn't have a car fast enough to catch him and even if he did he didn't have the ****** to drive it that fast.

My friend was more careful after that but he had a reputation with both the highway patrol and the local cops. Never was caught for speeding on that motorcycle, from what I've been told.

Then again... they never did caught the guy in AZ in a VOI9 Viper did they?

Here is a made up story that might sound true. When I was about 18 we went on a beer run with my dad's 68 charger. I told everyone that no one opens a can until we get to the party. A-hole in the back pops one and takes a drink just as a cop was passing by going the opposite direction. I figured either way I'm going to jail, the cop did a u turn behind us and I took off. Took a corner going at 100 miles an hr. lost control as I was sliding between parked cars. Got it under control but it popped off the power steering hose and I quickly parked it in the alley behind the party house. Cops busted the party 2 hrs later and they were looking for me all the while. Gave me a ticket for driving without due care, even though he didn't have my license plate number. After that every cop stopped me and gave me a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign even with my mom and brother with me as witnesses at times. Lost my licence for 3 years, had to pay risk insurance, and everyone was pissed because I broke up a good party. Just pay the ticket and leave the high speeds at the track where you have a better chance of not killing yourself or your friends.

ok so we have never outrun a cop in a chase but we have punched it and got off the freeway before. If your already doing 120-140 or higher and pass a cop, if you hit the gas all out for a few seconds that cop is not catching you and in most cases won't even try. But thats just been my experiance. Not that I make a habit of this just saying its been done once or twice.
