I thought the hash marks on the fender where a vette thing? Looks awesome. What does it say on the stripes?

Yea, Id lose the red stripes on the fenders. The Vette has them on the fender like that on the Grand Sport editions.

And now the new "Ron Fellows" Edition Z06 they made I think like 100-200 of them, they are the first white Z06 and they have a red/Burgundy colored dual stripe on fenders. First thing I thought when I saw pics was...... Corvette.

Get some wheels too, it will really finish the look, the best mod to any color or car is lowering and wheels.

I agree that it may give the Vette impression with the stripes, but I think they look good, accent your car...which is a beauty.

Actuall, 1st saw stripes like that on old Cobras, Austin Healeys & Sunbeam Tigers. It was a 60's thing & may have had something to do with a particular race series (europe). So I identify those stripes with go fast cars. But then again, I am getting old!:headbang:

In the early 60's, it was used with the Vettes, it was placed on fender, different colors used to tell the drivers apart. So one might have yellow fender stripes, one driver might have green fender stripes. Back then cars looked identical. Im sure its been used by many and in many different race series. But when I see fender stripes I immediately think Chevrolet.

looks really good. Now just remove the sun visors (I hate those things they stick out like a sore thumb!)

Thanks Everyone, Some like the stripes some don't. Most of the peeps who have seen White lightning in person seem to prefer the stripes, They are called "Chevrons" and as you noticed they are used to help identify a race car on the track. Sorta adopted by Corvette, but not exclusive to Vette. I got the idea from the Ron Fellows edition ( made 299 of them) . Look in my Gallery ( members galleries) there is a photo of Ron Fellows ( taken at Road Atlanta) guarding White Lightning.

As to the wheels, Please make suggestions. I haven't found a wheel I really like , but I'm thinking 15 spoke chrome or something along those lines.

Thanks a bunch

Honestly with any of the popular HRE's, Iforged or Forgelines etc, you cant really go wrong. Any Viper with a set of 19/20" wheels and lowered looks awesome in my opinion. I always like to tie in color of wheel centers with car If I can, but with your all white, I dont think you can go wrong. If you want flash, go full polished wheel. Want some contrast, go with a gunmetal or black center and polished lips, it will give a mean appearence to the car. Im tired of 5 and 6 spoke wheels, so i went with a 10 spoke and love it. A 15 spoke would be nice as its a little different.

I'm a bigtime Corvette fan, but those stripes just look wrong on a Viper. Yes, they were used in the 60s to distinguish racecars, but that was on Team Corvette! The 1996 Grand Sport Corvette brought them back to pay homage to the original Grand Sport Corvette racers. I've never seen the marks on any other brand of vehicle.

Even the Corvette guys will think you have an identity crisis. ;)

Sorry Tony, the stripes were not a Corvette exclusive. Were even used by teams before. Some of us were around back then watching the cars. I have photos of 50's Jags & TR-3's with similar stripes though I can't tell if they are from the 50's or early 60's. Trends come & go.

I bought the car with them and at first did not care for them but they really broke up the black and brought out the red calipers so I decided to keep them. I had the same "vette" issue in the beginning too. Glad to be a fellow VCA member!

PHATASP97 - I clicked on your picture and it said "You are the 999,999th visitor! Congratulations you won!

Your car will surely look great in my garage, chevrons or no chevrons.

Thank you so much. I can't believe my luck today. :2tu:
