I was going to post this in the Texas section, as it is probably the most appropriate, but because of the posting policies I cannot.

One of my good friends, and a member of this site, John Myrick was killed last night in Houston.

http://forums.viperclub.org/members/john-myrick.html

John was a long time Viper owner and an all around great guy. The details I have at this point are incomplete at this point. What I know at this point is he was taking somone who was in from out of town to their hotel who had been at the house. They were in John's truck. John apparently lost control of the truck and hit a tree. John was killed instantly, and his passenger was Life Flighted to Houston.

I know many of the Houston area people will want to extend their sympathies to John's family and pay their respects, so once I have more details, I will share them with you.

As I said, anyone who knew John knows that he was a fantastic person, and an all around great guy. The world will be an emptier place because of his passing.

I've known John since I first got into Vipers.
I haven't seen in for a few years now...
This is terrible...

It's always sad when we lose one of our Viper brothers. Even worse when it's in your own back yard. My prayers and condolences go out to his family.

Terrible news. His name sounds familiar, was he on this site, and if so, what was his screen name?

He was a pretty serious track guy as I recall and I think he won the "One lap" in 03, right JRod? I also recall a pretty funny thread where he rode in to rescue you from me back in 03. A very nice guy, he will be missed. I could move this into the Texas forum but I think many more will see it here, maybe I will copy it in there.

Very sad. Though I never knew John I remember a video he posted of [ I think] his '03 dragracing at a local strip. It is so hard to lose a person in such an untimely way. My prayers are with his family and his friends.

He was Ron Adee's co pilot that year winning in a Corvette. Very sincere person, chatted with him on various occasions during that years one lap event. My condolences to his family and friends.
