Has anyone in the Viper Nation thought about buying Viper from Cerberus ??
It is food for thought. Pros and cons? Worth disguising here on the forum? Chuck could be the Northeast Dealer.

I have suggested that in a previous thread some time ago. Probably don't even need a dealer network - continue to sell through Dodge and / or other venues.

They might take $200M...next raffle, buy 3 tickets for $295,000 (face value per ticket - a mere $100,000) winner gets a free pass to visit the factory anytime they want.

I don't think it will work. There's also the research portion of SRT and that might not be splittable. And whoever thinks that they can market the Viper better than Chrysler is dreaming.

What do you mean buy "Viper". Do you mean the brand? Or the vehicle trademark? Or what? Viper is one of the products of a big manufacturer. You can't just "buy" the one vehicle without the rest of the engineers, manufacturing support, plant, marketing, finance, marketing, etc. Are you talking about starting a whole new company just to build Vipers???

It's a very simplisitic question to a very complex situation. If one buys the name brand of Viper from Cerberus/Chrysler I guarantee you by the time a private company comes out with an actual vehicle it will look nothing like, drive nothing like, or be as reliable as the Viper built by Chrysler. It will probably turn out like a kit car like the Cobra replicas.

I think we should use the April 08 issue Hot Rod Magazine American Motors story as a model and add the AMC Viper to the lineup. Jeep would fit in also and we can move the manufacturing to Kenosha.

I forgot .... I can't do anything .... unemployed and haven't won Powerball yet. Corporate lay off after the family owned business where I worked was sold. Reality in America today for more people than are counted by statistics.

Seriously, the local family owned former AMC dealer (building still has the red/blue stripe around the top) who currently sells only Jeeps, is also getting the same political bs. The chain owned Chrysler dealer a half mile down the road really wants the Jeep franchise IMHO. But Medlyn Motors is the only place I want to buy a jeep from and the only place for service items we don't choose to do ourselves.

So if any of you win Powerball, fill your pipe and make that Hot Rod article a reality - with lots of help with capital and expertise from Viper Nation if you include the AMC Viper - what could be more patriotic? Unless you can figure how to make the direct injection of continuously manufactured onboard hydrogen really work to cut the mpg in half.....

Then this whole mpg is the reason for cancelling debate can go away.

Great comments. This is why I posed the question to see if it is feasible in any way. Let the ideas flow.
