08 Orders Ended on Feb 26th

Well, as the title indicates, and perhaps this is old news but I couldn't find it doing a search, but Dodge stopped taking orders for 2008 cars on Feb 26th. How do I know? I placed my order on Feb 27th at Dave Smith Dodge, the order was originally accepted, but the status today was the dreaded BG. After further research my dealer discovered that Dodge stopped taking orders on Feb 26th for the 2008 vipers. They are trying to get them to squeeze in my order or find out what will happen with it (a 2009 perhaps but with further delays, as who knows when they'll be making black 2009's).

Needless to say, the wind is out of my sails

bummer dude - hope they squeeze one last one by for you. On the bright side there will be dealers soon with Black 08's available, perhaps even with the options you may have selected.

There are a few out there on dealers floors that you can drive away today. While they may not have your exact car, it still is a 600 HP Viper and in my opinion they all are stunning.

Safford Dodge in Springfield VA has one on order now for sale to the general public. They expect to receive it in about 4 to 6 weeks from now. Believe it is a coupe.

pretty much whatever options that you are looking for will probably be out there in the coming weeks. unless maybe the aero group, might be tough to find. who knows when they will be available anyway?

I just received confirmation that if I keep my order it will be a 2009.

Not sure when I would see the car.

I had ordered a 2008 coupe, black with graphite stripes, 5 spokes and graphite bezel. The wheels and bezel are not too important, I could live with a change there, but I would like the black with graphite stripes and it must be a coupe, if anyone hears about one I would be interested.

1. There is a coupe on ebay, also check dallas dodge
2. You coud always add the stripes yourself (prefix) especially as the blacked out part on the back is a non issue

I like the 08', but I'm glad I got my 06' VOI9 instead of waiting to order an 08'. Chances are I wouldn't have been able to order the 08' with the options I wanted . Especially the way things are going with Dodge. I'm enjoying driving my 06' :drive:

while I can and I would not have liked the fact that I would not have been driving a Viper had I chose to wait for an 08'. I could always trade for an 08', but I doubt that I ever will. I love my VOI9 #89/100!!! :2tu:

I want it to be striped from the factory, does Safford have a black one available (not sold) for sale that is not quite built? If so let me know....

I fear Bill P. will tell us the same, as Dave Smith is the largest Dodge dealer in the world, though probably not the largest Viper dealer, and I would hope that they would know, but yes, I await to hear what Bill has to say as he usually does have more details about exactly what is happening in the world of Viper.

The thing I do like about Dave Smith is that they always only charge $250 over what they pay for it, period. Never any different, and on a viper that equates to several thousands of dollars saved... but at this point thats not so much the issue, I want the car.

Pretty sure most orders are from dealers. Question is whether they can sell their inventories. Who knows, maybe '09's will have some interesting changes?

I talked to Bill P. yesterday. I have a black car on order with him. I was curious as to the color breakdowns on order as far as rarity so I asked him what he had coming in black. I'm almost 100% sure he mentioned a few that were not sold yet but are about to be built. I think you might have a chance if you act fast to make changes also. I was contemplating a change so I know mine is locked down but I think he mentioned if I took a later black I could change it. Hoping I'm remembering the conversation correctly as the topic of another unsold black car was not foremost on my mind. MY DELIVERY DATE was!
Just call him, his off day is usually Friday and he works Saturday. If you're serious and I think you are pm me and I will shoot you his cell number if you want. But I would NOT wait, the black cars are all rapidly getting locked down, but I would bet you a large and expensive drink at VOI that he can get you a black car and that you will be able to change options. At the very least get factory stripes. And while I have no inside information it is logical that it is not a given that black will be offered next year, there are a lot of other neat colors to swap out so get the black one while you can. And while Safford is a well regarded dealer in my Region I think at this point you have to be a rather well connected mega Viper dealer like Woodhouse to get the job done FOR SURE at this late date. Again PM me for more details if you wish but if you go with Bill and he says he can get the car and it will have xyz on it that's the car that will roll out of the trailer in your driveway. Guaranteed.

I am surprised Dave Smith will do Vipers. They told me a few years ago they did not want the hastle.

I was dealing with Bill about a month ago when contemplating a purple car (which the wife finally said 'no' to). Yes, I am very serious and have a deposit down on my order. I'll contact Bill asap and see what he might have and if need get my deposit back and point it that way.

Dave Smith actually does a decent amount of vipers, though they certainly are not their bread and butter. My father purchased his 2001 Yellow ACR from them new and every time we drive through Kellogg we see vipers there.

A Stripe from Prefix, is OEM. All cars ordered with the stripe have to go to Prefix to get it. SO as long as you order it with a stripe it will be Factory or OEM.

Sorry, Frank, a stripe from Prefix will not be OEM, as it will not be reflected on the window sticker, and whereas technically we all know they do the stripes , 10 -20 years from now it will make a huge difference. The other item most folks do not understand is that a car striped at Prefix will cost considerably more than when done through the factory process. They do a great job, and we have worked with them on many projects, but one must jump through some hoops to get a stripe done when not ordered through Dodge.

I picked up my 2008 Viper at Daytona Dodge last week. We now have all generations of the Viper from Gen.1 (92), Gen.2 (98GT2), Gen.3 (06' VOI9 #38) and the new 08' Gen.4 #0077 (last four Vin numbers). The new Viper is Venom Red with Silver stripes and Razor Wheels. Very cool looking Viper. I wonder how many were made in this color combination?

The man Bill P. has come through again!!! I just talk to Bill on the phone and placed my deposit for a Black with Graphite stripe car, though this one has the Nav... oh well, the wife thinks that is good, and no bezel, but who cares! 5 spokes with graphite stripes AND it will be here MUCH sooner! Perhaps this month even. Thanks Bill, you are da MAN!

Also, Bill did confirm, 2008 orders are done. Obviously there will be dealers that have unsold ones that they ordered, but the entire allocation is done for 2008. He actually said Feb 22nd was the end date.

The wind is back in the sails now! I can hardly wait!
