i have an 08 but very little driving time due to flash issues and being out of town.... i am considering lowering the car with just the eibachs for one inch.... IF the ride/handling of the gen 4 is improved over the gen 3 then will adding the motons improve the ride significantly of the 08 from stock

My 08 coupe is vastly improved than my 06 coupe was in terms of compliant and smooth suspension performance. I havent had the car on a track yet but I hear the track experience is better with the 08s too. :usa:

It may work fine, but you have to remeber anytime you just change springs to lower and not shocks, your now limiting the travel of the shock. It was designed to work with a taller spring. Now you change the spring to a shorter one and it will affect how the shock works. Sure were only talkinga 1", but it can make a difference.

I know the Motons are expensive, but they aloow you to fine tune ride height, dampning, and come with shock made to work with setup. Well worth it in my opinion.

We have already done a few sets of Motons on the 08' cars and there is still a HUGE improvement from stock. I don't think there will ever be a factory shock spring package that can compete with it. Not to mention as before the complete adjustability of ride height and shock valving.

The Viper needs to have a certain rake front to rear also to insure good handling and control, this can only be provided by a spring shock combo such as the Motons.

If you are just cruising and going for the look then you may be fine with the performance you get from just the Eibachs, it all boils down to what you want out of your Viper.

The stock suspension is a balanced, tuned sytem. If you lower the car, other adjustments have to be made to properly put the suspension back into balance. For instance, my '06 coupe is lowered 3/4 inch with Motons and Eibachs. An important part of this process was corner balancing which takes a competent mechanic 6 to 8 hours to do properly. I strongly recommend that you speak to Mark Jorgenson at Woodhouse before you do anything to your suspension - especially if you are going to track the car. Note that the parts used in the stock nonACR '08 suspension are the same as those used on the Gen III's. The difference is in the settings used. They were changed quite a bit. Part of the change was to accomodate the Viper specific PS2 tires.

The stock 2008 suspension works very well as it comes from Dodge if you stick with all stock components. The 2006 did too.

I do believe that the Moton set up will out perform it at the track, give you ride height adjustability for the track and the street, allow the use of different tires / wheels and its lighter than the stock set up.

The Motons are hard to beat.

I do wonder why Dodge went with Motons on the comp coupe, but chose KW's for the ACR. Cost?

Tires will make a bigger difference in terms of ride quality and handling. Replace those run-flats with a better tire and you'll see. I may do KW's or Motons later if I get bored, but so far I've been pleased with just the Eibachs. My car rides/handles better than it did when stock, mostly due to the tire change (Nitto Invo)

Tony, I agree that the tires make a big difference. I do feel that the Motons made a much better improvement though. Much smoother, much better handling, I can adjust the suspension for normal street driving as well as track driving.

I did do the Motons first, then the tires so this may be why it was more impactful, but I would go with the Motons. He has an 08 so his tires are already non run flats.

So when u adjust the suspension does it have to be re-corner weighted each time

If you are changing ride height yes, if you are simply adjusting bounce or rebound this does not change the corner weights. Corner weighting is nice but not necessary for a street driven car, although just like an alignment, the better it is set up, the better it will feel and respond. When I adjust mine, it is for drag racing. I soften the bounce in the back and loosen the rebound in the front to help weight transfer.

Good decision, the biggest difference you feel in ride & handling between the 08 & GEN3 is the tires.

The Motons will make a big difference over the factory shocks :2tu:
