I'm worried and maybe too late

I just pulled the trigger on this 2003 Paxton Supercharge Viper. (Picture to follow as it is in "D" status). I think I got a pretty good deal but I may have jumped the gun. What's bothering me is the liner inside the hood. He said it's a designed flaw and it rubs on all Vipers. CarChex inspection results were in "Excellent" condition and all I can think at that time is the awesome deal I'm getting with a Supercharger on it. Now I'm worry sick that it could be a bigger problem. Does anyone have any similar rubbing? And how much will it cost for me to replace the liner? This newbie need some desperate guidance. :( Thanks.

yes it is normal for the original design. Paxton will replace it with the new design for free. You will need the serial # from the supercharger.

That is not in the area of wear from the air cleaner housing that Paxton had a problem with. Look under the hood to find what is rubbing. It looks to be in the area of the fuel connection (note the Paxton has a new hose coming in the the original fuel rail connector) or possibly where the throttle cable crosses over the valve cover. Maybe even near cylinder #5 fuel injector wite. Nothing is obvious in your picture.

The rubbing is way further back than the spot I have had from the throttle, which rubbed primarily when I had a failed motor mount.

Mine's paxtoned...& I don't even bother with the hood liner :D
But I do have Lemke's hood, so less heat to worry about:headbang:

Mine's also paxtoned and I've had no problem with rubbing on the gen 3 hood or the new 08 hood that I just put on my 04 mamba, so it has to be something else.

Not a big deal. That is not the Paxton rub. i had that happen on my 1000hp DLM Viper. Paxton sent me the new design aixbox and that took care of it. CK to see if something is rubing. And enjoy your superchared Viper! You have more power than an '08 or '09!!

Couple of you guys said it might be an engine mount issue. If that's the case

1. Will it cause other problems in the long run?
2. To get a remount, I would assume that I will need to bring it to a reputable Viper mod shop?
3. Too much of a hassle and cost to get it remount? Get a 08 hood instead like some suggested?
4 Is the liner a must?

You can easily determine if the mount is bad or going bad. When in gear, prefereably a higher gear like 3rd or 4th, go from a decel to WOT and watch how much shifter morion happens (side to side) if it is alot then the mount is bad. Not a hard job but it is not super easy either. Any dealer should be able to do this as it is very straight forward.
