Anyone selling a Viper BEWARE of a guy named Jim L from Dutchess County NY.I have my 08 Roadster for sale on the Vca website (i like the car but am really more of a coupe guy.)Last week Jim L from Dutchess County NY calls from the Vca Classif and makes an appointment to see my car at Buhler Auto Group at 12 oclock Sat afternoon.(Buhler is 15 minutes from me about 2 hours ,traffic depending from him )Buhler (convenient for everyone since its right off the GSP) would take my 08 in on trade ,sell it to Jim L (provide financing if necessary )inturn sell me one of their 08 coupes.Saturday comes and Jim L shows up at 2.30 ,over 2 hours late due to the Jersey Shore traffic (Nj Turnpike ,Garden State Parkway ect.)He sees the car, goes for a ride ,takes 40 pictures =loves it.A deal is worked out .In lou of financing (numerious ex wives) he will pay cash ,shaking my hand GIVING HIS WORD AS AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN(Vietnam Veteran- his handshake is Gospel to him) that he will take the car on the coming Monday.(i told him flat out numerious times that if he had any doubts please let me know since its not only my time being wasted but numerious others as well -the fool that i am I trusted him without asking for a deposit )inturn i ask the powers to be at Buhler to start the process of financing on my 08 Coupe i will be buying from them. Monday comes no phone call .I call Jim L 5 times-leave 5 messages 1 call back (On the call back apparently he didnt recognize the number and hung up when i answered )Today Tuesday i call the officer and gentleman again -no callback .About an hour ago Jim L finally calls the dealership(could not face me ) and tells them he will not be buying my car.On the way home from seeing the car Saturday he stopped a a bar (total bs since he told me he had to get back home asap)in NJ had a few drinks and got a DUI on the Tapanze Bridge.(come on Jim you gotta come up with a better one than that )I understand people change their minds all the time but at least have the common courtesy to pick up the phone. In this case this ultimate tire kicker drove roundtrip approx 7 hours(to get a ride in a Viper along with a few dozen pictures ) and wasted not only my time ,but the people at the dealership time as well for a car he absolutely had no intention of buying.I just dont want to see anyone else get taken by this guy.

Bummer! I think that's a sign you should mod your current car to new heights!

Regards,
Aaron

Too funny,i dont know about mods -quite yet at least.Seriouly Aaron, you should have seen this clown. Not only did he flat out lie ( he claims to predicate everything in his life about honor that comes about from being an officer and a gentleman )but wasted alot of good peoples time (calling for payoffs ect on my roadster, setting up finance on the 08 coupe ect)on a really busy Saturday.

*****. It does seem a tad strange that the guy choose to sit all that time in traffic for a 5 minute joyride. Regardless of his excuse you know going forward that anyone serious in buying will have no issue laying a deposit down. Especially since the transaction was going through a dealership.

Snake iam telling you this guy totally bs me with the EX military officer officer and Gentleman stuff.Very strange indeed that someone would sit in traffic all those hours for a ride.Crazy as it sounds i would have much rather that he told me flat out i am just here to go for a ride and check out an 08.I would have given him the damn ride

Weird **** happens to people.
I once had a guy give me a couple hundred down on a van I was selling, and never came back. This was back when a couple hundred was a lot of money...
Turns out he got arrested, never made bail and was put away. Never heard from him again.

i guess ya learned to take a deposit for ALL sales

So true.I will admit he got me.(Pathethic, poor bastar* had nothing better to do than sit in traffic for 7 plus hours , waste everybodys time in order to get a ride around the block and a few pictures of an 08 on a beautiful Saturday in the summer.)

Its just one time in my life i would like someone to honor their word and or a handshake agreement(very touchy subject for me wherein i actually had to file a lawsuit against my own brother whoose word also ment nothing )One thing i have learned (besides always get a deposit )is that EVERYTHING must be in writing.

Iam trying to get a coupe (i will let the roadster go for 78000.00 with 600 miles on it.)i just like the more aggressive look of the coupe.Rather than go thru the above again i will wait untill Darren Buhler gets a used very low mile coupe in on trade and swap it out for mine.
