I agree someone should ask whatever they want.

xlr8ion is a sensitive fellow and is clearly not prepared to be ridiculed by the Viper community, so y'all give him a break.

Thanks.

Keep it,sell it.... whatever. The point is you purchased it and by doing so have supported our viper brand and community I thank you for that!

Theres no question the ZR1 will be faster in straight line than the ACR, But around a road course it may be a different story.

I am according to my dealer 3 - 4 weeks out from getting my ACR. I was on my Chevy dealer's list for 14 months to get a ZR1. I bailed as I'm not giving a minimum of $25k over list for what is essentially just another C6 Z06 on steroids. I could also mod my 2006 Z06 if I was just after more power. But I will keep the Z06 for a dailer driver and drive the ACR on weekends.

In other words, the new buyer will have to pay sales tax twice, once when he buys it from the original owner (to cover his losses) and again when he registers the car.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but in Arizona (and some other states) there is no sales tax on private party-to-private party auto sales.

You are crazy to bail. You could have taken delivery of the ZR1 and resell for a nice profit! Look at Pcars...Ferraris...Ford GT...it happens all the time. Not so with a Vette? Viper ACR? why not?

You're right. I honestly wouldn't buy a ZR1 for invoice if they offered it to me, but the Chevy dealer here in North Scottsdale has already sold 4 of them for $50k over MSRP.

There was no tax on private party transactions in AZ.

Then in the early 1980's the state changed it to tax private sales of vehicles, planes, & boats. If they thought the person was reporting too low of a sales price they just assessed a kbb value.

People here didn't like that. Taxes seldom get repealed but that one did after just a few years so we don't pay a sales tax on private party cars. used cars purchased from a dealer are subject to full sales tax, though.

AZ makes up for it with high annual registration fees.

The way I understand it is if someone from another state - like NJ - buys a private party used car in AZ they will be paying a tax back in NJ.

But if the AZ buyer buys from a NJ seller there won't be any tax due when the AZ buyer registers the car in AZ. It makes a big dfference when buying an expensive car.

This damn communist country of ours needs to stop taxing so much. Every state should carry the same policy as AZ. So, if the AZ tax situation is your reason for adding tax into the price (which seems fair as long as he doesn't have to pay sales tax upon registration), then I am assuming if an out of state patron buys your car, you will delete the tax.

XLR8ion, if you really are a multi-millionaire, I suggest that you show what a man you are and donate the car to Chuck. There isn't anyone more deserving of a new ACR than he. Besides, you could write it off on your taxes as a charity. In one instant you could go from a "double taxing heathen" to a "Viper community hero". I donated one of my new dirt bikes to a friend who always wanted one. With your massive income, you should be able to donate the ACR.

In NJ ever wonder why so many boats are registured in Delaware and kept in NJ.?Of coarse its because Deaaware has no state sales tax which is typically paid when a boat is registured.Years ago it go so bad NJ sent agents to boatyards during the winter to tag any boats drydocked in NJ(Deleware Registration) during the offseason.Six months later they came back and you basically the owner had a few weeks to move the boat to Delaware or register in NJ -requiring the owner to pay state sales tax based on purchase price.

The bottom line is that he can ask whatever he wants for his ACR. We, can choose to buy it at that price or not. What's the problem?

I was wondering what country you are originally from ? What we were taught when I grew up here in the good ole US of A was that we have what is called a capitalistic economy. This is where the law of supply and demand is the rule. Instead of the government setting the price of cars, we set the price ourselves. This is often a method used by some people who actually increase their wealth over time. We realize that sometimes a poor peasant might be duped into overpaying for basic transportation; such as a new Viper ACR; but, life's lessons are hard sometimes.
