I passed three squad cars this morning with their radar detectors sticking out of their cars but the V1 did not even make a sound. It usually give me plenty of time to slowdown. I just know when to slowdown today cause I know where they usually are. I pass the tolls, banks and mall and the V1 did make the false alarm. I think it is time to give V1 a call. Anyone have same experience? By the way the V1 had save me so many times..... and I can not drive without it :D

What year did you purchase your V1?
My first that I purchased back in 1998 was still functioning well when I returned it for an upgrade last year, granted it did not have pop protection.Within 1 week I had received a brand new V1,not my old reconditioned unit.Impressive.

Explaining Viper things to you
I pass cops all the time and mine does not go off. I think after Ralph Nader starting warning everyone that those things fry your **** cops turn them off when not in use.

Three in a row seems a little weird, but...?

There is a divided 4 lane here and two state cops park in the middle, facing each other but about 100 yards apart. I can't see what's in their car because the Tahoes are tall and they seem to tint the glass. I was guessing that they are using the new license plate cameras, but it seems a wasted opportunity for them not to be using radar, too.

I have a 9-month V1 that never goes off around these two. And the V1 has probably saved me 6X the purchase price so far, so I am way ahead.

:dunno:I live in Maryland and have encountered the very same thing. I have received a ticket with the v1 on, in a head on situation with a state trooper traveling in the opposite direction. I also noticed that when I pass the stationary radar detectors with the flashing readouts some units do not trigger the valentine. I have called Valentine and was told my unit is up to date for software.

"instant on" or trigger activation of either radar or laser cannot really be beat if they have a good hiding spot you only hope is to catch a "stray" signal off a car in front of you otherwise your caught no detector can help you in that situation

I had a V1 (ver. 1.7) and it went bad. The radar internals must have went bad. I went to the V1 site and put my serial number in and it could be upgraded for $199.00. So I sent mine in thinking they were going to reject it because it didn't work. 3 days later I get the new one in the mail. Ver. 1.8 and it's great! Smaller in design also. But I was more surprised I was able to get an upgrade with the busted on I had. I would have dropped $399 for a new one, but lucked out on this recent upgrade!
