stupid z06

ok, this is more of a rant than anything. i owned a 2002 z06 (405hp) then moved onto a 2003 viper. then a 2005 viper. then i dumped the 05 @ end of 06 to get a new 2008 red/white viper beast.

but no red & white (even though that was the color combo they showboated for MONTHS)

so whatever. i figure i'll just wait til 09 or whenever they decide to move on to the next generation & make another red/white color scheme to celebrate the final edition of said generation. almost broke down & bought a SSG or one of those mean a$$ looking blk w/red stripes, but i said nope, gonna get the color combo i want. straight from the factory. i'm gonna keep it & it'll be the last sports car i ever buy. w/me til i kick the bucket. hell, bury me in it!

on to the point...

so i decide i'll get another z06 in the meantime (hence the title). GM is practically GIVING them away. i got mine brand new for 65k OUT THE DOOR! i mean, geez! that's cheap! it's a leftover 07 model.

& yeah, it's a nice car & all, but doesn't compare to the viper.
i already knew that goin in. so i can't complain too much.

it's like dating some girl who's great & everybody loves her (except you b/c you've had btr)
she's not sexxxy enuff & just doesn't do it for you
b/c you used to date angelina jolie & now you're w/some goodie 2 shoes who's obsessed w/walt disney & oprah

that's the z06.
the goodie 2 shoed cousin of the viper.

but i figure i'll drive it around for 18 months or so til i can get my red/white special edition.

then i see on the news last night how dodge might be selling off the viper.

so i go out & my garage this morning & i'm completely disgusted by the z06.

mainly b/c this mainstream car will survive while the viper goes the way of the dodo.
or worse, gets bought by someone who ruins it...

the viper's such a manly beast of a car
the z06 is just a fast car
nowhere near as inspiring

& the z06 is BORING when driven slow.
like a camry!

the viper rocks @ any speed.

i need to build a ramp & jump this thing in the river.
report it stolen.

i feel like a traitor lives in my garage.
& i invited it in.

Thats one of the more entertaining posts I've read in a long time. Sorry you're stuck with the Z06. Trade it in, getcha an 08' Viper and stripe?

I still looking for your point.. You buy the zo6 knowing that you arent going to be happy with it. Then you realize that you arent happy with it just like you knew you werent going to be.....

Speaking as a VCA coupe owner, I'm not so sure you'll see a Gen III/IV body in the red/white combo. Why not just order the red & get the stripes done professionally?

Sometimes long term plans dont work out. But your short term plan you can easily make happen. Build ramp. Find bridge. Simple.

Seriously. Trade it in and get the Viper now. There are some great color combinations out there.

Funny rant. $65k for a new C6 Z06 is good, but a used one at $49K would have been better as a temporary ******.

I must say I love my Z06. It's not to say I don't love my viper and other sports cars. They all have their strong and weak points.

The Z06 is a great second sports car but does not cut it if you do not have a Viper in the garage next to it.

I am on my third Viper and now have a 2006 Coupe.I have a new C6 Z06 for a daily driver.Agreed,it is no Viper,but it is one very,very fast /nice care.Period.

should have searched a bit more...$ 59,900 for left over 07's on the Z06's around here...

yes, NineBall, you are correct! but i got the car brand new, fully loaded (msrp of $78k) OUT THE DOOR for 64.9k, which i thought was a pretty damn good deal. on afterthought, it would have been better to pick up a low mileage used & save another 10k. u get a

Buyers remorse is a hill of a bummer but you saved over $20K; you did a lot better than those that paid over sticker not much over a year ago!

DON'T WORRY.......THE VIPER IS NOT DEAD!!! The Viper will live on no matter what.......possible that it may not be a Dodge (Chrysler) brand in the future, but it will live on. We heard it from the horses mouth at VOI 10......play it cool.......everythings OK!

If any company buys the Viper division, it would be because they have a vision that Chrysler does not. If a company were to purchase the Viper division, I don't think it would be bad at all. It would probably make the Viper brand even more exclusive than it already is.

Regarding the Z06, I have one modified by Chuck Mallett and love it. I also have a Viper and love that also. They are both very fun cars. If the Z06 was stock, I definately would not love it as much as the Viper.
