Hey All.

My name is Gabe and I've been on the board for a year now yet relatively quiet and learning a lot from all of you. My car is a 99 Silver/Blue Stripe GTS and the car is located in North NJ. I recently got involved in the Speedwerks group buy for Iforged wheels and wanted to share my experience.

First off, Matt from Speedwerks is a class act despite this group buy being a $hitstorm for him. My advice is that waiting for a groupbuy to come together (for wheels) and then waiting another 10 weeks is a pain in the ass and wasn't worth the savings. Matt's prices and service are great enough normally that I wouldn't wait for the groupbuy if I had to do it all over again. Thank you Matt for EVERYTHING!

As for Iforged, I was a little disappointed and I emphasize a "little" cause i'm a pain in the balls which Matt will confirm. The packaging was inconsistent in that some wheels came with foam paper on them and others didnt. The finish on one wheel near the lugs needed to be re-polished by me which is unacceptable when you spend $4k on wheels. I also found a small defect in one of the chrome lips while waxing the wheels prior to driving the car which ****** me off. The best part is, I tried to take 30 pictures of both imperfections which was futile cause these badboys were so shiney! As per my discussion with Matt, Speekwerks and Iforged would have done anything I wanted but I just couldn't wait anymore and just dealt with it. Overall they look insane and I figured it's only a matter of time before these NJ roads cause some chips in the lips!

The good news...THE WHEELS LOOK BANANAS! Matt gave me great advice while sourcing the right wheel for this color car. I went with a 20"/20" combo (3" and 5" lip) with Nitto Invo's. I also recently dropped the car with Eibach's. Let me know your thoughts (if the pic gets uploaded right) and I hope to get better pics soon! This pic definitely doesn't do it justice!

Again, although I may sound salty, this was an amazing experience despite the wait and some minor bumps. ANYONE looking for wheels are in great hands with Matt from Speedwerks. I look forward to doing business with him again in the future.

By the way...sorry for the long post!

gabe

If you can afford $4k wheels you can afford a better camera. Wheels look good though.

I think what he's trying to say is "those wheels look good and I'd like to see a bigger picture please!" And I second that notion!

Forgeline worked through their quality issues before my delivery. Cost me a small delay, but they were perfect when I picked them up.

Matt at speedwerks probably wants my head for not posting pics yet as promised. That was a cellphone pic and my ******** forgot my camera when I went to the car last weekend. I keep the car 20 minutes from where I live so I'm not with it all the time. I PROMISE to post better pics and I promise they won't disappoint.

I bought mine from Matt as well. Great friend and I too had some minor finish issues but Matt was way MORE than accomodating in getting it rectified. Lookin good.

Something else I forgot to mention for all the NYC/NJ folks who opt to buy their tires and rims from separate places.

I got pricing to mount and balance these wheels from Rayco and Action Tire, both on Rt. 46 in North NJ (bling bling wheel shops). They were trying to get in the ballpark of $200 and treated me like a ******. Based on the recommendation of a friend in the tire business I ended up at what used to be called Precision Tire and is now called Tire and Wheel Performance Center on Rt. 17 (201-652-2300) in Ridgewood. They charged me $100 plus tax, had me standing there the whole time watching them and they treated my rims like they were gold. Everyone who touched my rims wore gloves and every precaution was taken during mounting.

The owner of the shop handled my wheels personally because in his words, "If I gotta pay 5k to replace a set of wheels it better be because I fubared them up and not one of my idiots". He treated them like he only had 5k in the bank too. lmao.

here's a few more. Sorry I couldn't put these in the actual thread. I'm not smart enough to know how!

Thx. I am very happy with them. They are VERY dirty in these pics but clean up very well. I believe the 1" drop with the eibach's and the 20's are a nice combo in terms of stance and look, regardless of which wheel you select. Rotors and pads are next this winter!

Thanks guys. I was really excited to buy the wheels but the 10week wait time had me rethinking whether it was a good idea to drop all that coin. When I got them mounted it was a ****ty rainy day. I put them on the car in my garage and I was still really concerned they weren't worth the dough. The first nice day I took the car out, washed it and stepped back in the sunlight I was psyched and happy I did it. Since then everyone noticed them and now getting good feedback here makes it even better! I will sat that the pics STILL don't do it justice. Actually this color car doesn't look great in pics but in person it really looks nuts and gets a lot of compliments!
