Very impressed, ACR baselined 540 ish rwhp, Macedo Motorsports added a Corsa and some filters, THEN BAM, 586 rwhp and 560 rwtq. This motor is so deep! Picking it up tomorrow and will be able to comment on the seat of the pants dyno. I can't wait for the Mopar PCM for this thing, I would say it will be around 610-615 rwhp?? I also added some team Tech Racing belts while it was in, thanks Larry.

Was this on a dynojet? If these numbers weren't corrected, any idea what the SAE corrected numbers were?

I got my ACR two weeks ago, and its still stock except for Woodhouse mounts and a MGW. You'll have to feel the MGW on Sunday - its amazing.

Be sure to try those Team Tech belts with a Hans device...mine don't fit the Hans well at all (due to the sewn on pads), and I wish I got some other style. I am going to have to modify them, or get rid of them.

Wow, what kind of filters were they using? I assume just the K&N that's designed for the RX-8?

How did it pickup 46rwhp with just the corsa and filters? I have Bellanger headers into the new Corsa track, as well as every other mod available for the ACR, and Woodhouse feels the corsa might add 15rwhp at best, with the bellangers adding 60-70.

You might want to re-check for SAE Corrected Dynojet figures. I seem to recall that a few forum vendors tested filters on a 2008 and determined that it was good for 0-5rwhp. Corsa states that the exhaust is worth a few ponies--I have it and this is probably true, although the biggest change is sound. I would expect maybe 15rwhp change total from filter and exhaust. Your improvement looks more like headers and the other mods you mentioned.

Boxer --

Teamtech actually makes a HANS-compatible 6-point harness for the Viper but you have to specifically ask for it. The fit on my HANS device has been quite good.

For what it's worth, my bone stock '08 SRT10 Coupe made 533 RWHP and 503 RWTQ last week on a DynoJet.

I assume that Larry was using a Dynojet dynamometer since assuming a 12% driveline loss, 540 RWHP translates into 613.6 flywheel HP which is certainly in the ball park. The 46 RWHP gain for Corsa and filters makes no sense. It can't be correct.

We just ran a 2008 with Bellanger exhaust and headers plus filters: 580 HP at the wheels - corrected.

Dynojet.

Car has less than 300 miles.

580 RWHP ( 659 HP at the flywheel assuming 12% driveline loss) with the mods you listed is consistent with the data previously provided by Bellanger, DC and Woodhouse. An increase of 46 RWHP for just the addition of a Corsa cat back and filters does not make sense.

My Z28 dynoed 576 rwhp on another dyno and 556 rwhp on this one. I will post the dyno sheet tomorrow, I was surprized also, but the lowest it dynoed was 580 rwhp. It doesn't have any other mods and driving it today it felt very strong, wheels started spinning at the top of 2nd and 3rd, normally it hooks on the pilot sport cups.

Hell, I'm going to invite Burnin' Furman over to my house for dinner, install a new set of wires and gain some 40 rwhp over stock. I can't afford those UGR big power mods like filters, noob tubes and fancy exhausts.

I got my new 08 Vert last month and after reading this post I decided to bring it to the Dynojet today , 1800 miles all stock. 4th gear pull, SAE corrected :
First run, 547.6rwhp / 499.5 tq (still cold engine)
Second run : 549.3 rwhp / 504 tq
Third run : 557.2 rwhp / 502.1 tq ( 569 hp uncorrected)
Dyno operator noted that the car is running rich with A/F ratios in the low 11 from 4400 rpm to redline, so this could be why adding Headers and filters to an '08 leans it a bit and adds so much more power. I will scan the Dyno sheets tomorrow and post them here. To say the least I was very surprised and excited to see these high numbers.
By comparaison I also brought my 06 Jeep SRT8/ 6.1 Hemi with Headers,no cats,Borla catback, CAI and Tune on the same Dyno and got 359 rwhp and 370 tq

How cold was it when you dyno'd it? I know there should be ways to adjust for temperature in the dyno program, but I still think they dyno higher when colder.

The 2008 I mentioned was still running rich with the headers.

How rich? I had an EVO X that was running below 10:1 in the upper RPM range and that thing was so responsive to intake and exhaust mods, the car picked up 60 HP just on an intake, cat back, and tune (w/ boost remaining pretty much at or below factory seeting at 22 PSI). But I am new to Vipers so what is a good safe AFR on the Gen IV's?

looks like the 08 vipers in southern cali are the lowest #rs,were seeing bone stock in the range of 515-525 rwhp,all great #r guys.i did see the bealngers adding between 40-50 at the wheels.

Ok, I Checked with Macedo. His dyno is a Dynojet, and the numbers were SAE corrected. The lowest pull we got was 580 rwhp the highest was 586 rwhp. Now, I know I am going to catch some flack here, but when I asked Larry if he dynoed before the exhaust he said "no," I asked him what the 08 motors he has had on the dyno make and he said on the low he has seen 530s and the high 550s rwhp, so BLAST ME if you want I went with the mean 540s rwhp. Regardless the number now are what they are and if I got a hot motor from Dodge, that much the better. I asked him if he did anything other than bolt on the Corsa, he said that he does some modifications to the pipe rear of the cat, maybe that helped too.

Suggestion. Find another place where there is the same type of dyno. For about $75 or less you should be able to buy three pulls. Have the car retested. The issue is not the base HP before the addition of the Corsa and filters. It is the increase allegedly caused by the Corsa and filters. It is just not possible.

I would not characterize your a/f as rich. I would characterize it as safe. Keep in mind that the SRT Engineers told us that the Gen IV engine, except for filters, headers and an exhaust should be left alone. If I recall correctly ( it is in the archives), the SRT Engineers referred to the Gen IV engine as already being stressed in an engineering sense. In particular, the pistons, which are from the SRT8 application, are the weakest link. I am not saying the Gen IV engine is in anyway bad. I am saying that it is not as mod friendly as the engines in prior generations due to a number of factors.

As we all know, all cars are not created equal and that holds true even in the Viper world. John's car has been driven hard since day one, so that may attribute to his higher numbers. We've dyno tested numerous stock cars over the years and some were deficient and some were exceptional. The 08's we've dyno tested previously were hard pressed to break the 580rwhp barrier w/ headers and exhaust, but there is always the exception. We did not baseline this car...

A local gentleman jumps from Dynojet to Dynojet here in town and our Dynojet #'s are always conservative compared to the rest in town.

We did use the 3.0" Corsa Track on this car and cut the 2.5" transition after the secondary catalyst and tig welded a piece of 3.0" stainless as a connector. I'm sure that attributes to some of the performance gain.

John's car retains stock factory manifolds and full stock catalyst w/ a 3.0" Corsa Track Exhaust and K&N Panel Filter.

The SAE #s are 569rwhp and 544rwtq w/ smoothing set to 5.
