Question for you guys. I have the motor out of my 2006 SRT10 Coupe, only 3200 miles, and it's completly disassembled. I cracked two pistons due to detonation but that's it. The block would need to be bored slightly, .002, and new pistons put in it, the heads need 2 new exhaust and 2 new intake valves replaced. Other than that everything else is fine. Does a motor in this state have any kind of value? Is there any value in parting it out? If so, what's a good guesstamate? Thanks

Here's the link to what happened:

I've got my eye on a quality built replacement motor but it ain't cheap. My thought process is I can buy this built motor and drop it in my car, then rebuild my motor with Dodge OEM parts (if it's cost effective) and sell it. However if it's not cost effective to rebuild my motor, I was wondering if it had any value in the condition it's in?

Like someone else said...why not rebuild that motor? I cracked 2 pistons on mine about 10 months ago because of the same reason you did. You can read my signature to see my rebuilt internals. I know it ***** but take advantage of the situation and build you a bullet proof motor. Depending on your financial situation you could even have some other goodies put on while the motor is out. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to have it done all at once while the motor is out. Even if you had to wait and save some funds it will be worth it in the long run to give you a greater peace of mind when you decide to romp on the throttle and worry less about breaking down.

Behind every bad situation there is light behind it and this is your opportunity to end up with something better than you started with. Take it from someone who has been there. Good luck!

We can rebuild your existing engine and ship it back to you if you would like, ready to rock in any configuration you want. At least you will keep matching numbers that way...

thats a great point, on the "numbers matching" It's odd to see that phrase used on a 2006 M.Y. car. But definately something to think about.

If I had the motor I would keep it with the idea of putting a stroker crank in it (around 520 ci ought to do it). Then I'd build it with low compression pistons so you can boost the hell out of it with twin turbos. :drive:
