I havent had a chance to read a C&D, Road&Track or Motor Trend in ages and wanted to know what kind of performance times they were getting on the Gen4's.

1/4, top speed etc.

Seems like the car would be good for some high 10's with a good tire and launch.

Anyone gotten any times at the strip with their Gen4?

Thanks
J

Road and Track pulled off a miserable 3.7 0-60 time, 11.9 1/4 mile at 124MPH, with a 0-100MPH time of 8.4 seconds. :(

Edmunds Inside Line pulled off 3.4 seconds to 60 (with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and completed the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 124.2 mph with the ACR Viper.

They took the ACR to the salt flats and managed a best top speed of 173MPH, showing that the aero bits that help the car on the racetrack hurt it in top speed. The SRT-10 Coupe is supposed to top 200MPH easily (given enough road).

Motor Trend got:
0-60 mph: 3.7 sec
0-100 mph: 7.9 sec
Quarter mile: 11.7 sec @ 124.4 mph

Editor and test driver Evan Smith have been friends for years (i have often supplied him with Vipers to use for his varoius mag test, shootouts ect )In the case of my 08 we just wanted to make a few baseline runs to see what Evan could do since hes always quicker than just about every other driver.

Road & Track had an article a few months back regarding "base" models and their more performance-oriented models (Base lambo vs Superleggera, Viper vs ACR etc) and I believe for both the ACR and the base coupe they recorded a 0-60 time of 3.4 sec.

i checked everywhere for 08 srt vert or coupe top speed runs and never found one.would love to see it

I think it would need a VERY long stretch of road. There is video of one getting up to 170mph while racing a yellow GTS on StreetFire, but it wasn't really going anywhere after the shift to 5th. I'm thinking 1-2 miles. Another 08 owner hit 168mph in the standing mile in Goliad, TX last October.

Since a writer was killed a few years ago all the mags have been doing alot less top speed testing. Not only is it dangerous(participants) but costly to them because only a few places in the country safely handle speeds these cars are running today as liability becomes a factor(not like in the old days hen they just closed some road somwhere)

The ACR has huge downforce limiting the top end to 180's.
I've had my stock ACR at 180 (actually 179.7 on the GPS) and it was still pulling. This was with 140/111mm ride heights (read: a lot of rake), the wing set to the stock '2' position, and the front splitter installed. There was no wind to speak of, and the road was flat (not downhill, according to the GPS data).

The car will definitely go over 180; I'd think at least 185. I don't think Chrysler and the magazines have enough room to really test top speed on a Viper. The gearing in 5th is so terrible, it takes a long time for it to crawl its way up to 180, so you need a ton of road. A shorter 5th would help a lot.

That was one of my points as only a few facilitys in the country can handle these 200 mph cars(it cost a good dollar to use them and get everything, everyone there) .Its is no longer a matter of doing these tests on some back road somewhere-too many liability issues ect
