fix-a-flat cans ok?

I had to use this for my front right wheel due to an emergency. I was told that the stuff inside the can unevenly distribute inside the tire & cause vibrations or worse...a blow out at high speeds. Is there any validity to this or should I change out to a new tire for a peace of mind. As always...thx for any & all suggestions.

I would suggest that these products be used only to get you home or to a place where you can get another tire. The fix a flat cans may cause damage to the TPS in the wheel. The pump and type of sealant in the Mopar kit will not ruin the sensors but you still need to get a new tire. This is really no different that the run flats were. They are just to get you home it is not worth the risk in a high performance car with the capability of the Viper.

Be SAFE not cheap. :drive:

And when you replace that tire you also have to replace the other three so you don't have uneven amounts of tread wear on a high performance car, right? Boy, having a flat can get expensive.

I think that's getting little anal unless the other tires are getting worn. The tire companies would think this idea is a good one!

I'd be more than happy to dispose of those partially worn tires for you. The 3 that are still good. A free service to the Viper community we'll call it!

But a serious question if I may... If you get a flat from a nail or screw or something, which I suspect would be repairable using convention methods like an internal patch, why does the use of a can of Fix-A-Flat preceding that ruin the tire so that you must get a new one?

The tire will be unbalanced of course, but the puncture will negate the speed rating of the tire. If you just tool around then that would probably be doable. Any tire shop that repairs a speed rated tire above a Z rating though is basically taking the responsibility of any speed related failures down the road. There are guidelines that we need to follow to not become liable for failures and we cannot repair them.

Mine are PS2's & not run-flat. I believe someone intentionally let the air out when I was parked outside. I have no sensors for my aftermarket wheels & there weren't any puncture wounds on the tire itself. But still...I'm going to change out the tire anyways for safety measures. Thx for the recommendations. :2tu:
