LI guys I need ur help......

My friend was caught over the weekend in LI. Court appearance is North Hempstead???? 91 in a 55.. No priors.. Has a CDL A lic... Don't know much about NY lic"s but I assume he needs an Attorney.. Anyone know of a good one?????

I used a good attorney a few years ago. The paperwork is at home. I'll check tonight and post up his name a number.

Hey, it's the off season for tickets! What's up with you guys. No radar detector, or were you out there on an open road on your own?

684 between exits 4 and 6 has a LEO there EVERY time I go by!

Yep, that would be the area in question.

On Sunday, I counted at least 4 spots on either side of 684.

I believe Uncle Greggy (an NY/CT Member) also handles this.

Frankly, I think they're pretty much all the same. Probably best to choose an attorney that has some "relationship" with the county in which you were charged.

Tony, post up your "review" of this attorney. It would be nice to know if we've got a local Esq. that is reliable. Unfortunately, I think we could give him a great deal of business.

FYI, I think I paid $400 6 years ago.

Will do. He responded quickly to my fax, email and seemed knowledgeable on the phone. He made no promises but I like the fact that i don't have to be present at court because losing a day's worth of consulting is lot more to me than the fine/fees combined. Hopefully this works but i will post up the results/review. Believe it or not...it's been a LONG time since I've received a speeding ticket...almost 10 years and HOLY **** have fines gone up. I'm looking at 6 points in NY, $680 fine and that NYS driver awareness program fines you every year for 3 years...*** is that about?!? It applies to out of staters like myself.

$680 is seriously substantial. I guess you should be grateful for not having them try to impound your car (if they even can) or make you spend some time in a holding cell.

Hopefully it will get reduced to not more than 19 over which (if I recall) is 3 points. Even that can go away with the DMV safety course.

I was 26 over the speed limit but I think he's including the Driver Awareness 3 year assessment on top of the speeding fine in that amount. He did say that taking a DMV course will NOT eliminate that assessment. Not sure about points but I will ask.

My family and I have used him many times and havent recieved any points but had to pay somthing to the court on a lesser charge. Broken tail light or no front plate.

I wanted to give an update on my ticket. I ended up using NotSpeeding.com to deal with a speeding ticket I received back in February. Since I got it in NY, and live/work in CT, I couldn't afford to fight this on my own without missing a lot of billable time from work. On the recommendation of some folks here, I used NotSpeeding. I contacted them in February and they told me to sit back as they will handle it.

Finally heard from them yesterday, 7 months later. They were able to knock down the ticket to 3 points in NY and $165 fine. I think if I take that DMV course the points go away. I was looking at 6 points and the driver awareness assessment not to mention valuable lost time from work. In all. I'm pretty happy with them. Very easy to work with and communication was great.
