We have a pair of Michael's aka XVipers shortened shifter shafts to be installed in 09 gals and would like to know from someone that has installed them what the trick is.

The OEM shifter knob, boot, and bezel were removed along with the upper center console trim piece; the one with the window switches; now what?

We can see the shaft that is to be replaced however how it is removed?

FYI we have tried to reach Michael however he appears too be away at the moment.

Thank you

you need to bend a tool to hold the nut undernearth.

michael had told me put put a nut ontop of the excisting nut to lock it into place and be able to unscrew it, I ended up destroying it all. Who knows its always worked for michael and hes never had a problem but i wouldn't recommend his way.

i posted a very similar thread not that long ago.

Huum so much for Michael's 2 minute project

Were you succesful and if so happy once the PITA portion was behind you.

Specifically how did you end up swapping the shaft; you mention a thread. Did you describe the process within and if so can you share the thread?

Thank you again

just wanted to make a note to this. My shifter was damaged because of improper ways that i attempted to install it, and not following michaels directions carelly. michael was generous enough to offer me a full refund but i did end up installing his shifter shaft. Michaels shorter shaft is a way better method to go as to the cheap chinese feeling MGW shift knob.
