Thinking of doing the header, gear, controller route this summer on my 08 coupe and was wondering if there are any concerns to these upgrades beside possible warranty issues? Specifically will the headers (Belangers) create an underhood heat issue that will affect daily driveability such as boiling the clutch fluid ect? Thank you in advance for your input. *****.

I have the full Belanger system installed (headers, cats, mufflers, exhaust) and have had no issues with underhood temps, even running the car during HPDE/track events. I recall Lou Belanger telling me that the Belanger system actually runs cooler than the stock system. The only thing I did was to add "snake sock" insulation sleeves to the ignition wires. Contact Jon B at Parts Rack about getting a set.

No problem. FYI, here's a pic of my car with the red "socks" around the wires:

The full Belanger system has a small amount of drone but the sound is nice and deep so you don't notice it all that much. I have the Belangers and the Corsa hooked up and love the crisp sound of a Trans Am car also. There is so much more space to vent heat under the 08' hood that the heat from hard driving will not even be an issue. As for the clutch even if the stock car is left to idle for 30 min. or so it will potentially boil the fluids, but when the car is in motion there is plenty of air flow to prevent and issues at all either way.

I have both of the Belanger set ups in stock and ready to ship if you need one NOW! You will love them and be trouble free.

So if I leave the car to idle for 30 minutes or get stuck in horrible traffic for that time I could boil the fluids? Would this cause a lot of damage?

Thinking about this too. So, how obnoxiously loud is the full system on an 08/09? Would the neighbors complain if I drove conservatively through the neighborhood at 11:00pm?

I have a coupe. How loud is it inside the cabin of a coupe with windows up or down?

I have the Belanger and the Corsa and mine have not lynched me yet :lmao:

It's a Viper not a Bimmer so yes it is loud, but I have taken trips already and with the windows up you can listen to the stereo if you need to and with the windows down on the hwy there is just as much wind noise... I think it is perfect but sound is very subjective.

you could also go with ceramic coating the headers if your that worried about it

Included in the price of Belanger Headers is JET HOT (ceramic) coating inside and out that gives the look of nickel-plating. Over time, they age like a 5c nickel.

The only real down side is the loudness......and of course they cost a bit, to buy and install.....

There are several options with the Belanger system. You can run the complete system with the side exhaust, which is the loudest setup. The second choice would be to run the headers with the Corsa side exhaust, good tone but quiet at cruise. The third option is to run the headers with the stock side exhaust, a little raspy at idle with a little drone.

We have a kit with differant gaskets, hardware and heat insulation for this kit. There are a few tricks to keep it trouble free. Feel free to call.

here is my view on the drone...

A two hour trip with a gen 3 with just high flow cats and a corsa would lead to a headache and ear ringing....the same trip with a gen 4 , belanger system headers, magnaflow exhaust and i'm still smiling two hours later, it's just a great exhaust note without the teeth loosening drone

Also more power, great wot sound, no heat issues...so far the only downside has been a code in cold weather and running at low rpms on a bad road..i cleared it myself with the basic actron and it has not returned

I had Random Tech High Flow Cats & Corsa Track - it was too high pitched and loud for me, definitely ringing in the ears with the top down in the 03.

I also have the full Belanger setup and love it. I've had 5 Vipers all with various configurations of aftermarket exhaust and none compared to the Belanger.

I frequently get codes 401-404 which are easily reset. I'm hoping if I install the new PCM that this will go away?

Anyone know for sure?

The Mopar PCM will numb the rear O2's and the codes will not occur. The reason you are getting them now is because you must be running at too low an RPM and getting a cat inefficiency code. Run higher and harder and no codes.

Full Bellanger set-up (headers, hi-flo cats, no X-over and cat back) on my car. Over 2,000 miles on the set-up and I have been lucky without a single problem since install. Not one code thrown yet.

It is loud when you walk on it, but are you going around at WOT or 1/2 WOT at 11:00 pm all the time. Doubt it. If you "locomotive it" at 1,500 rpms and under, it does not seem any louder than stock to me. Idle sounds great, but WOT is simple amazing.

Best mod I have performed to my Viper yet. In my coupe with the windows up, 6th gear and 80 mph, it seems like I get more noise from my rear end and the wind than the exhaust. That just doesn't sound right now that I re-read it.

Just when I think I have my mind made up about what to do with the exhaust on my 08, this thread pops up. I know that the levels of "exhaust noise" and "drone" that people hear and tolerate are subjective, I thought that most people here found the full Belanger system to be louder than just the Corsa Track (and stock exhaust manifolds) with high flow cats?
