Hey guys,

Just a heads up.....ADOT had the cameras set to take your picture speeding if you were going ten miles above the speed limit but beginning yesterday they changed the number to SEVEN miles above the speed limit. The state is trying to get the 2 billion dollars that it is in debt one ticket at a time.

I did notice a lot of those speed cameras when I was in Phoenix last week. I was driving a rental. What happens when you're speeding in a rented vehicle (I was)?

April Fools ??? Last that I heard reported on local news was the raising of the trigger point from 10mph to 11mph over. ( a few weeks ago, I think. )

They send out a traffic violation notice to the registered owner, stating "If you were not the driver or did not own the vehicle at the time of the violation, please identify the driver or the owner in the space below." Then there are entry lines for name and address, drivers license number, etc.

Thanks for the alert !!!! On one hand, I have no problem with them enforcing the speed limit. On the other, I hate the anonymous letter in the mail quite some time after the event, and you don't even remember driving in that location. (Yes, I have received a notice for 11 over on the interstate in a 55mph zone just 1 mile from the 65mph zone.) Typically, you feel that if you are going the same speed as the rest of the traffic, you are doing the safe thing. Now, everyone gets a violation notice. I do find myself searching out the speed limit signs now, because the limit is someplaces 55 and someplaces 65 in Metro Phoenix.

They had an article about this in motortrend recently. They said is was a method to pay for janet napolitano's crazy spending. they had some stats proving it doesnt make the highways more safe etc. just more $ for the state.
