Took my dash out, disconnected the window switches, defroster switch, etc. to do so. When I started the car to move it while everything was still disconnected, the airbag light came on, and no air is coming through the upper or lower dashboard vents (defroster vents near the windshield are working fine). I did not disconnect the wiring harness for the passenger airbag on/off switch, just unscrewed the whole thing from the back of the dash panel. Anyone else encounter this before? The service manual says the window switches and airbag control module are spliced into the same power wire--could disconnecting the window switches have set off the airbag light?

If I remember correctly, the airbag on/off switch is lighted and should be lighted when the switch is turned to on. Is that the light you are talking about?

No, actually the airbag light on the message center in the instrument panel. I guess no one else has had this problem before...I'm going to try resetting the PCM and see if that does anything, since everything is back together now.

Explaining Viper things to you
I have taken off the radio bezel trim piece many times - the window/defrost/cig lighter etc - and never had that happen. I think you need a scan tool to troubleshoot it, like a DRBIII. The air vents are vacuum controlled, and if you've yanked the AC controls they will go to a default position which may be the defrost. Dunno on that one as I've never tried it. Could you have pulled on something a little hard and disturbed some of the wires or vacuum hoses?

Entirely possible, as I was in there to replace the bulbs behind the HVAC controls, among other things.

I had the sme exact thing happen, I pulled the dash a second time and found nothing wrong. It stayed on for about a week, then, just went off on its own.
