Since I own both I wanted to share what I think about the 06 and 08.

My 06 has all to good mods from Woodhouse. Paxton, motons, race logic, and corsa
My 08 ACR has corsa and woodhouse eng/trans mounts only since I didnt want headers and no other mods will work on the 08.

I took them both out for a drive on the same day and here are my results:
The ACR is better looking but not as friendly to drive on the street. Takes both hands on the wheel most of the time and hard to see traffic with the wing. It is very quick in the higher RPM area.

The 06 with the supercharger is actually breath taking compared to the NA ACR. It just doesnt compare. It rides nicer with the Motons. It's a lot nicer in traffic without the wing in your mirror. And with traction control, you can get on it whenever you want with confidence. I dont care what anyone says, your right foot for traction control is not as fast as a computer.

Bottom line: I need a race track for my ACR. On the street the 06 with a supercharger is my favorite. Its still scary to keep my foot in it. I love them both!

When you live in an area like I do in Washington, you find that on many of the days you want to take your Viper out that the pavement is very cold. It's amazing how bad cold roads are for traction. The race logic really comes into his own during these times. Supercharger and cold pavement will get you in trouble very easy. The race logic is saving me before I even know I'm in trouble.

The road course would be the real test.

Cobrapilot,

What RWHP are you getting with your paxton setup?

Thanks,

Great write up. It is good to get a comparison between NA and FI. I would like to see them compared on the track. My bet is the ACR would win but not by much. It does make sense of course that the 06 is better on the street. I can imagine doing 2nd and 3rd geer pulls in the paxton must be fun. Thanks for the comparision.

That's a nice and rare ACR, love that color. I have to agree about having to drive with both hands on the steering it just grabs every groove in the street. You must get more looks in the ACR, nice comparison.

interesting write up...how different would your results be if the Paxton car did not have TC? would your preferences change?

I will not directly comment but perhaps one or more people who were at the Homestead Speedway road course this past Saturday will chime in and comment on how the Woodhouse Performance Edition Viper did vis a vie NA cars of varying types. I understand that the following words may have been uttered: "Jeez your car is fast." I can only imagine what the car could do with a professional driver who is more skillful in the corners. By the way, the ACR wheels and tires, particularly the tires, made a significant difference. The tires are incredible. The Racelogic TC was not a factor. It did not activate at all. ( I had it set at 14%.) With the suspension mods, '08 tranny, '08 differential and the ACR tires, it stuck like glue.

i can attest to the woodhouse special with proper track tires on is unbelievable on the track and i was chasising it around with my acr but i didnt stand a chance once we hit the straight aways. i thought my car with the new 3:55's and mopar pcm was fast that 06 is just scary fast and the new cups put the power down to the pavement. woodhouse built a bullet proof viper and dont let bob fool you the man can drive. bob next track day i wont check your lug nuts :D

Cobrapilot,
Since DC Performance did the steering rack bushing the wondering has gone pretty much away. Or maybe it was the alignment. I now no longer feel the need to hold the steering tight any more on bad roads.
As to the shocks, I wonder how the ACR will feel with the Motons.
As to the wing, I never even see the wing when I drive as it is so high, it is higher than the top of the back window. How come it is blocking your view?
BTW, your avator looks familar, do you also own a Ford GT?

For some reason the Violet show up better with indoor lights rather than outside in pictures. It is very hard to get a picture of what it looks like.

?

Hey Bruce,
can you post up the alignment specs your car is set at. Mine feels "floaty" too and would love it to be a little tighter. :2tu::2tu::2tu:
