Swapping coilovers in my gen IV to the Kw 2's I had in my 06.

Did the left rear yesterday no issues

When I went to put the right rear in I can't get the bottom close to the mounting point, at least 1 1/2" outward (towards the rotor) If I were to do the reverese, the top is then 1 1/2" too high to the mounting point.

Got frustated last night and decided to put the stock back and I'm in the same spot so I left it on the jack.

I did these with my neigbor 6 months ago when we pulled the KW's out and put the stock's back and did remeber any issues.

What am I missing?? Thanks in advance. Mike

Are you saying that the shock is too long in static position and needs to be compressed or ?

Yea it's too long. My friend told me to try and use a breaker bar to push the lower control arm down

Now for this example I assume that the earlier shocks are also designed to work with the later gals as such how about simply rolling the collars aka the spring perch down so as to effectively shorten the shock? They are gas filled so you will have to physically compress the shaft however this is not difficult once the spring perch has been lowered.

Typically I would have the shock already secured with the upper bolt and then compress the shock as you slide it into the lower postion.

The idea of of using a pry bar is of little good because the rear tie-rod will keeep the control arm from going down very far unless you un-do the tie rod end.

Let me know if I can assist further

Thank you for the update Mike

It was my pleasure and yet in the end the old stand by pry bar as suggested by your buddy did the trick.

Enjoy your gal

Hey Mike,
If there's one person I can trust ALL my cars with, Shadowman is the MAN.

Shadowman,
I'm glad you are posting here and helping us out. How do you like the VOI coupe? What mods are in the works?

As you know I enjoy being able to share a personal experience from time to time; it seems to me that there are many great folks on this forum as well and the assistance seems to be appreciated; furthermore I reach out for assistance from time to time too.

Now as for the VOI; I actually have a couple of them receiving some personal touch tweaks as this time however nothing extreme on the drawing board at this time. It is the time to exercise them as such many of the considerations will be place don hold until fall.
