Hello to all. I finally bought my first viper and new to this site & excited. I bought from a member of the club Al in conn. 1996 gts, roe supercharger, headers, borla exhaust. sound familiar?. I never drove one and this thing flys!!. I was wondering what the production numbers were in 96. also i have a ten second 67 chevelle with a 632 street engine and my viper feels as fast. Is this possible? thanks Jim. PS>I'm sending in my check for membership:)

Congrats !
There were 1166 Blue-White GTS for 1996.......partial-year production.
The first retail unit left the plant {CAAP} on June 8 1996........
The month-day-hour of YOUR unit is on the door.

June 8 may become significant again soon!

The car FEELS and LOOKS fast..... but not likely its a 10sec car with mods you describe, unless slicks-skinnies + more? but 11's YES.

Are you a CONN MAN also? Thanks for joining the NE-VCA.

Email me your 'pedigree' and Ill send you a blue/white doodad in welcome....

My car went 10.5@139mph on PS1s. 10#, 1.7 rockers, headers, Corsa track, 80mmTBs, Macedo airbox, 9-1 Forged Ross pistons, lighweight flywheel, 3.08 gears, short shifter, 800hp driveshafts.

Since then water/****, ported heads and match ported intake, crank vacuum evac system, PS2s and 1,000hp rear axleshafts have been added.

Congrats on the car. You gotta love that Roe, expecially since it pulls just as hard off idle as at shift point. Any dyno numbers?

I also have 14" lightweight brakes, Ceramic pads, Bluetoothe stereo, TPMS - with temp readings, Built in ****** SRX radar (with laser scramblers), Unitrax driveshaft loops, Roe front facia scoop, Venom rear wing, VR1 lightweight wheels, Roe pwr str brkt and metal pulley, NX Nitrous System, Sirrius Radio, dr. seat lowered, digital tach with shift lights, cup holders, fire extinguisher, etc.

Nice car Ted!!. I made a mistake i have 3.55 in the rear. The guy i bought from which listed it on ebay claims it made 630 rwhp before he did headers, roe high flow cats, borla exhaust on a chassy dyno. his guess now it is aprox 670rwhp. is it possible?. I belive the stock hp is 450?. Jim

My first Viper was a 98 Roe sc'd GTS with 8# and water/****. Only mods to engine were sc and modified airbox. Car had catback with hiflow cats and stock headers. It made 598rwhp/644rwtq.

Apparently mine makes a bit more hp than most 10# cars and everyone keeps telling me the tune is 'weird' so my tune is probably a little 'tighter'?

Anyway, if the Rear Wheel Horse Power was 630 with stock cats and exhaust then it's easily possible that you have 670rwhp now. You should get a dyno tune because the headers and exhaust affect the tune quite a bit.

The stock 450 Brake Horse Power rating is usually about 410rwhp or so. The difference is that Brake hp is supposedly crankshaft hp (although figured out be formula) while Rear Wheel hp is what the rear wheels actually produced and usually about 13-18% lower than bhp. Completely differnt #s.

Your hp numbers are misleading as a Roe makes huge torque off idle and ACTUAL horsepower numbers are not a constant. Actual hp is the amount of work done to produce a certain amount of work. As in driving a 3600# car and driver down the quarter mile at a certain Elapsed Time. A Paxton and TT car will produce massive hp numbers on the dyno, but they actually don't make their hp numbers until higher revs (hence the term "Turbo Lag"). Uasing the weight of your car and a Morroso powre speed calculator can tell you How much hp was produced to take your weight of car and send it down the track in a specified time. Normally we'd call this AVERAGE HP. With my old Dodges I found that my "average hp" was about half of Peak hp my engine produced. Using the race track will give you a MINIMUM hp for your engine and not a MAX. Tire slippage, shifting, and various other factors are when the engine is NOT producing max power.

So the numbers are pretty much meaningless without a reference.

I believe 680rwhp is about average for a Roe 10# with stock compression?

Congrats on you car choice. Blue/white is my favorite color ... after my own Sapphire Blue/Silver colors.

Oh, forgot to mention that the 3.55s slowed my car down because the lower gears required an extra shift while the stock gears made it through without the extra shift.

your car sounds like it has great mods

seems like you have experience with high hp so no usual be careful in the beginning warning

btw, as JonB's signature says, if it fits on a viper (he) has it
