Yep, after trying and failing to secure ANY local trailer rental which would work with our Daytona's front splitter, I broke down and got my own. All the board archives recommended a Kwik-load as the best flatbed, and now I see why! It's as easy as 1...

The approach angle is low enough that the front splitter never scrapes, and there's plenty of room on the trailer in front of the car if I want to mount a tire rack, wind screen, etc.

All in all, a big thumbs up.

That is one sweet looking Viper your wife has there. I am definitely getting a Sloan Kwik Load too, but I just don't know where to put it when not in use. Don't wanna leave it in the driveway.

Ben:

Glad to hear you like it. I've been considering getting one and really need to do so quickly. Have a couple of quesions.

1. Do you buy direct or do they have a distribution network?
2. Are ther multiple models from which to choose or is there only one that's really applicable. If multiple, which did you get?
3. Cost to expect if you dont mind my asking (no worries if you'd prefer not to discuss)
4. Do you need to register the trailer seperately or do you just get an extra license plate for the trailer of the same number as the tow vehicle? This one is probably state dependant so any NJ guys input would be helpful as well.

Thanks in advance

Phil

They do have a distribution network -- see http://www.kwikload.com/ . You can also buy direct if you're close to their HQ in Texas.

One model only that I'm aware of, but there are multiple lengths. I got an 18', which is more than sufficient for the Viper + a tire rack. There are also numerous options, such as hydraulic surge brakes (comes std with 4-wheel electric), wind deflector, etc.

3. Cost to expect if you dont mind my asking?
$2995 + shipping/tax/reg for the 18' model. Figure $200 extra for a spare + mount rack, and you're looking around $3900 out the door.

In CA you need to register the trailer, but it's $20 for 5 years.

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the post. I too am currently in the market or an open trailer. I even have it listed in the "wanted" section of the Viper classifieds. But "new" looks like the way to go, and I like the flat bed. Thanks again.

What's the record in elapsed time when resurrecting an old post?

I'm glad you did, though. I am looking into what trailer I might want to buy.
