Thanks to all who helped. I knew it was a ground strap, just didnt know the attachment points. It was hiding out by my O2 sensor. Sneaky little guy......Car was running fine, but I did have an intermittent no charge problem. Did it two times during the summer.

funny, while tightening my headers a few days ago i found the SAME ground wire disconnected.

To me it looked like the one end came disconnected from the back of the head where the coilpack mounts because I saw a Ring terminal there with a small amonut of frayed wire hanging from it

Dave, in your pic, the wire that goes up behind the heatshield. Does it connect up there? or come around to the coilpack area?

I'd like to make sure im connecting mine back to the proper place

Im still wandering Where this RingTerminal on my coilpack is supposed to ground to. Take a look at the pic and please let me know.

hmmm, some people do like to add grounds all over the
place. Crap like this: Grounding Kits Mazda Miata

i know grounding TB's is popular...

Could anyone else verify that they have No ground on the coilpack as shown in my Pic ?

I'd like to make certain that this wasnt a year to year change or something. could someone pop the hood and check? (its just to the left of the driverside windshield wiper motor)

Under the Sensor in the top left corner of the pic.
See the sparkplug wire "loom" clip thing that tholds the wires in place on the back of the engine? There.

My '01 got nothing there where that ring terminal is. I mean, it does have the black bracket and the plug wire retainer, but no ring terminal.

Maybe mine got extracted out my white hood vents. You know, with the 200 pounds of additional downforce I'm getting from them, it's bound to loosen some parts.

Dom... Did your car used to have a VEC or something, that when uninstalled later they took the cheesy approach on disconnecting a ground that was there? Or some other electrical device?

That just seems like a strange place for a factory ground - the intake which is gasketed from the heads. Yes, I know it is bolted too, but it seems most of the time factory grounding is done at the block (which likely has a strap to the chassis) or the chassis itself.
