My 94 RT/10 cranks up fine in the garage first time every time. After driving it a while, when I shut it off, the starter will not crank. Idiot lights on dash go on, and fuel pump whirs, but no crank no click no nothing. If I retry it a few times (like 10 or 12) it restarts. I had Viper Tech look at it last time in and he could not duplicate the problem. He checked the clutch switch and said it looked okay. Sound like a soleinoid issue or starter switch issue? I can't figure why it will always start cold, but not hot. I would not think a ground would do that consistently.

I echo the clutch switch suggestion from Paul. Had the same problem with my 95 and it was the nylon bearings on the clutch pedal that were worn out causing the clutch switch to malfunction. good luck!

Do you have a shop manual? It shows the wiring diagram and you can easily find the wire that runs from the starter relay to the starter solenoid. The connector is on the driver's side of the engine bay, right near the remote POS wire. There is a three pin connector. Unplug it, and use a wire to short the middle wire to POS. You can visually trace the wire from that connector to the starter area. I suggest doing that before shorting it to make sure it is the same on your car as mine. The starter should crank over. If not, new starter is needed. If so, something in the connection between the ignition and the solenoid is gone, such as the clutch kill switch.

You can do this in 30sec when the car won't start without getting dirty. Just keep a little bit of insulate wire with you for the next time it gets hot and won't start.

Thanks! That sounds easy enough and worth a try to help isolate the problem. I have a manual.
