The adhesive that holds the metal to the glass is coming apart at both sides. Anyone else had this happen? What kind of adhesive is used and has anyone had any luck with making it stick again?

I bet 3M or Permatex makes a product for that. Have you tried a body shop or automotive glass shop?

No, not yet. Very few cars actually bond the glass. Most have those ugly buttons covering the bolts that hold the glass to the steel support.

Take it to any local reputable glass shop they can get it reglued. A lot of glass brackets are glued on automotive glass.

My GTS has the same problem. Unfortunately, that bracket is not sold separately so if you bend/break it while fixing, you have to buy the whole hatch. I took the hatch (not the car) to my local glass guy and he fixed it with some windshield glue for 5 bucks. It didn't last more than a year before it started detaching again. The good news is that it does not seem to be progressing.

I have checked with 3M and got no clear answer. I wish somebody could get more information from CAAP about a source for that glue. I drew a blank with whoever I asked. Anybody got connections?

Glad to hear that it is not just me. I don't want to just pile on something that won't work and I'll have to remove.
Wizard, any of this make sense to you?

I did speak to him about it many years ago when I first had the problem. His suggestion was the same as some of what's been listed above. Let's see if he anything has changed since.

I'd still like some CAAP insiders to help us find out the adhesive used on the bracket.

I bet liquid nails heavy duty will work, that stuff adheres to anything including glass. My only concern would be how long it would last with the rear hatch opening/closing. I used it on my door stanchions over 2 years ago and they are still well bonded.

It would have to be something that can withstand a lot of direct heat. I'm in Florida and glass down here gets HOT. I have found that a lot of different adhesives that normally work will become soft in high heat.

Im in Texas I think the summer heat here will take the florida pepsi challenge any day. How about a test run with liquid nails on a piece of glass and whatever type of metal the hinges are made of. Going back to my stanchions, my car sits in direct sunlight in the summer all day in the parking lot of my employer. This isn't a daily occurrence and I havent seen any issues with the adhesive getting soft.

Call JonB and he'll either know or he'll call Saleen and ask what glue they use on the hatches when they assemble them before shipment to the Connor assy plant.

I'd suggest asking what solvent would disolve the glue so that the brackets could be removed and glued again properly.

I had the problem with my Gts. Tried 3 different epoxy mixes before I got one that held. The problem is as I was scraping off the old glue i removed some of the backing on the glass that makes part of it appear black. Now it is holding but looks like s*it as there are white spots seen through the top of the glass. I would let a windshield repair place fix it. they have the right glue and probably wouldn't charge too much.

I used a glue for attaching window glass to window tracks. This seemed to work great but I had one customer have the hatch come loose on a high speed Silverstate run (the cockpit pressurizes a bit). After that I only replace the glass.
