Somebody help me with the significance of the change with 5th gear.

- For the street racing (in mexico) I occasionally am guilty of doing, the race is over by 4th gear.:nono:

- Ditto the dragstrip.

-For the tracking I and most of the people I know do ( at 8/10's), and at most tracks, 5th gear is not an issue.

-Still won't help you reach the 200mph club at the Texas Mile.

The fifth gear change is really only going to be appreciated by the hard-core high-speed road racers. For the rest of us, and especially the street cars, it's good for bragging rights. I would personally like it because currently shifting into fifth is kind of a let-down, but I rarely get into a situation where I run out of car in fourth gear.

Still debating. The 09 deal is sweet, but the 10's might have some "special" value........

Still not sure if I want to part with the Copperhead...

Is 72000 a good price for an 2009 off the showroom floor?

I think its a great price especially if it has some options be it coupe or vert...Anytime you can get a NEW Viper for close to 20K off sticker is a good thing plus you can get 0% financing for 4 yrs....You cant beat that especially if you like the color/options/type Viper in question...Kevin

Think about it - I bought my '97 GTS almost fourteen years ago and that was the sticker price for it. And, they were selling for way more than sticker back then... Now, you get a much more refined car with an extra 150 HP for the same price? That seems like a screaming good deal to me. Take it for a drive and decide :)

Who ever gets to 5th gear anyway...You could drive this car all day with just 4 gears. Doesn't seem so special to me. Now add a bump in HP or better yet don't make the computer system so darn sensitive to SIMPLE mods...I'll add my own HP!!

I agree - I've never been in a situation where I needed 5th gear. But, shifting is fun, and it would be nice to have 5th and 6th gears be fun to use :) As it is now on my cars, 5th is OK and 6th is stupid.

I really think alot of you are going to change your mind when you start seeing the new 2010s. They really have some awesome looking cars and their production team really made a point to get all of us big viper dealers together and get input to make this the best year yet. I mean they are making ideas into reality almost overnight. I sat in on the teleconference where the APR aspect for 09s was brought up and a few days later it was available to you, the consumer. I CANT WAIT!!! :)

Dealers will likely get their entire allocation numbers from the very beginning. This will impact what they can or cannot get, and with some really cool limited models coming out, along with the ability to order so many colors/combinations, it will be a very unique year for the Snake. The small number being built , along with the special runs, mean almost any Viper ordered is going to be in a small group of even remotely similar machines.

The order schematic was tentatively supposed to pop up by now, but it will likely be quite soon. The complexity of ordering so many combinations has probably slowed down the input in the Chrysler Dial System , but it won't be long....................

It is probably a good thing that it is a tad bit slow since the everyday consumer doesnt even know what the new colors look like yet. They are just being released now in limited fashion. Either way, when the order do open the limiteds are going to go fast so if you have something special in mind get ahold of your Viper dealer today to secure the order you really want.
