Hey Guys;

New to the forum, last weekend I bought myself a final edition viper #323 and I still have goose bumps when I see it. Yesterday I drove it for the first time after just admiring it for a full week in the garage and all I can say is WOW. I had an 04' SC BMW M3 before and all I can say now I understand why people love american muscle cars.

Attached are a couple of pictures I took of the car when picking her up. Hope you like them.

By the way Is probably a dumb question but being new probably you guys will understand. When I was driving the car yesterday the arrow light on the cluster panel lid up after doing a couple of pulls, I looked at the manual and it just indicated that it was the skip shift light that indicates you need to throw from 1st to 4th and thats it. Can anyone explain to me why this happens and if is something that should concern me in regards to the engine.

Thanks

Looks nice man! Congrats! Skip shift comes on under part throttle and blocks gears for 'fuel economy' purposes. You can buy a skip shift eliminator to get rid of it since it is completely annoying.

The arrow upshift to forth was a put in for fuel mileage I believe. Most have a skip-shift eliminator or just rev the car higher in first before shifting to second.

My GTS still has the skip shift in place. If your in traffic going very slowly in low revs, Yes the arrow lights up on the dash and the transmission shifts you to 4th. But if you increase the reves slightly then all gears are available. Drive the car for a bit and get used to it, then if you still don't like it, buy the Skip shift eliminator.

Great looking car, Get ready for Fun in the NEW YEAR :2tu:

One thing though, Looking at the photos, the car has Pilot sport ones on it! You may have a lot of tread but the rubber tends to go hard after a few years and you loose grip! There have been a few crashed Viper because of this ;) Just be careful and don't push the car hard into corners or the Snake WILL BITE!!!! If you intend to use the car a lot, you might consider some replacement rubber and keep the original Pilots to go with the car if you ever decide to move it on :)

Thanks guys for the recommendations It looks like the tire age is really a concern, I would neet to do some research to see if they are the original tires

Thats funny! I had a "3" series that was supercharged as well before I bought the Viper! The BMW was a nice car but I needed more than nice. I NEEDED "NASTY/NICE"! Beautiful car and great year. Congrats and welcome to the madness! :nana:

Welcome to the Viper world and the FE madness - good choice! :D
:2tu:

Get used to rev the GTS above 2000 rpm from 1st to 2nd. Easy fix.

Congrats and beautiful car! Don't worry about the skip shift. If you shift into 2nd at anything over 20mph you won't notice it. Have not hit mine in 8 years....

Good Luck! Welcome to the club.

Now all you need is some turbos:D On a serious note, first mod should be the power steering cap vent tube. Dont take a chance on the power steering cap spinning off. Too many cars have gone up in flames. I think Roe Racing carries them for a few bucks.

Buy new tires, don't learn the hard way like some of us do. Please contact PartsRack.com - Home for good pricing. I can tell you without even looking at the mark on your tires they are old and out of date. Those tires only have roughly a 5 year shelf life and they have not been produced since 2002. Jon correct me if I am mistaken.

Besides my tire spiel, welcome to the club. Prepare for upgrades, they get expensive. Number 1 upgrade, yellow paint :).

Enjoy

Man, there's not much left to say.....

This forum rocks and leaves the back alley behind. There's alot of good folks here who care about the car and you and really don't care about the di_k measuring, if you know what I mean.....

You're gonna love that car!!!! ... enjoy
