Anyone see the most recent Motor Trend magazine confirming production of a 2012 Viper as well as some insight into its development?

Ralph Gilles confirms the next Viper engine will be a variation of the current 8.4 V10 and will NOT share any parts with the new Ferrari modular V8.

Gilles says, "Ferrari is a great source of for expertise on advanced technologies, materials, and chassis development but there will be no sharing of parts or components."

Also sounds like we are going to see some exotic materials on the new Viper.

Ralph Gilles gets it!!!!!! You have to give him tons of credit for staying true to the Viper history and purpose.

Here is a scan of the article.

Interesting, maybe the powers that be can determine if the article is true.

And why does motor trend get this sort of information prior to us?

There is nothing in the article that wasn't told to use first several weeks ago. The only information that wasn't discussed in more depth to use than in the article may be the information about a possible dual clutch transmission. Ralph has been fantastic about divulging any and all information he can share about the future plans for viper to us before any other source. :2tu:

100% Exactly..

Furthermore: The PRESS and the VCA MEMBERSHIP generally gets releases at exactly the same moment. The exception are the national officers, who generally sign a non-disclosure agreement. [Or, ex officers no longer bound except by duty!]

Here is the point: No Other Manufacturer that I have ever hear off is Soooo responsive to its customer base. Each year since 1993 I am stunned at the examples that THESE GUYS 9and gals) CARE ABOUT OUR OPINIONS. Example: Grailkeeper gets on here months ago and asks our opinions about a track-ready Viper, in primer.

Fast-Forward to Nov 2009 and VOILA ! The big secret was 12+ mos in the making, with OUR opinions in the project. WHAT A COMPANY ! But does Dodge need us to make cool cars? Heck No! These guys GET IT all on their own.......

Will the next Gen Viper be worthy? Duhhhh. Will it have a reveal at VOI-11? The timing and the audience for a PVP-Mule debut would be PERFECT. Or a press-release at a minimum.

Only difference is they projection is for a car in 2013, and as noted by everyone, we ( VCA, Dealers, etc ) knew all this and more prior to Motor Trend's article coming out.

The only information or thread I found on this website was the one about whether the new engine would be based on the new Ferrari modular power plant.

Am I missing something?

I think it is great that there is going to be a new Viper but 2012 or 2013 is a long time away. Buy a Viper now. You may not be alive to enjoy one in 2012 or 2013. No one guarantees that you will wake up tomorrow.

The upcoming Ferrari 458 will not be made available with a manual transmission. We can only hope that this line of thinking does not translate well from Italian to English in the coming decade.

The one thing that puzzles me about it is that it says the next viper may get a twin disc clutch. Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure my '08 has a twin dic clutch.

That would be a real long time, it's just 2010 now. What's the current build status (i.e., what's left and when is it expected to wrap up)?

Even in Jan 2013, that's 3 solid years. Is this a confirmed timeline at this point for the Viper's return?
