So, how about a pic of this special tool? Save on return shipping charges for the DIY folk...

Honestly, it is nothing special... looks like a J. So when you stick the botton into the fuel filler tube (past the metal tab), you hook it - like hooking a fish. That is the only way to pull the fuel filler tube throug the rubber donut.

Just make sure to lubricate the rubber donut - it was easier to install than taking it off for me.

Get a coat hanger...make a J hook on one end and PRESTO!! But I used the tool that came with the MGW cap and it really is super easy either way. Before I put the cap on I was a little intimidated after reading posts on here but when it came down to doing it...it took all of 5 minutes to take the old one off and put the MGW black one on!

I have the tool that I can ship to you along with the MGW instructions. They included an alan wrench and the zaino tire shine to lubricate the rubber donut. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

I just ask that you pay for shipping and send it back when you are finished with it.

Thanks! I may take you up on that. I'll try the coat hanger method first. I'll shoot you a pm if that fails. How hard can it be, right? :D

No worries, just let me know.

It wasn't nearly as difficult as some of the posts I read.

Just make sure to have some type of lubricant for the rubber donut. Mine went on so easily - I really couldn't believe it.....lol.

Taking it off was a lot harder.

Got the cap off. The gasket seemed like it was glued onto the inner latch surface. Took this noob about 10 minutes. Several minutes was worrying I would pull the tube out. :D

All I need now is to get the thing polished or chromed and then slap it back into place.
