A few goodies on the 09 SSG vert (56K beware)

Hello guys, I just completed a few mods to the 09 SSG vert and wanted
share them with you. Dan at DC worked on the car with a help of Jon@
partsrack and Mark@woodhouse getting the right parts. :D

After the storm cleared we had a beautiful Saturday here in So. Cal so
I took her out for a long drive. All I can say is I'm extremely happy with
the way the car feels and looks now. As others have said before, all vipers
should have come from factory like this in first place.

Here is a list of mods and a brief feedback:

* Belanger headers with HF cats (I agree with others that have gone
with the belanger, love the added power and sounds)

* Corsa Track (2.5"; I prefer the belanger catback sounds but the
corsa makes a better choice due to no drone)

* Mopar PCM (raised rev limiter and the sharper throttle response
makes this mod a must. I dont' miss the decel pops as others have
said)

* Motons (lowered 1" for street use. No more bouncy ride and the
improvement in handling is noticeable)

* MGW short shifter (like the overall feel but somehow 1-2 shift feels
like 1-4??)

* MGW gear knob and other chrome goodies (just some eye candies
for my wife)

* Woodhouse tranny mounts (wheel hops eliminated however it adds
a slight shifter vibration, a fair trade IMO)

* DC steering rack bushing (sharper steering feel and a slight improvement
in road feedback)

* DBA 2pc rotors(F) and 1pc rotors(R) (Not much lighter than the
stock ones but it performs well while looking good)

* V1 hard wired (a best radar/laser detector for the money)

In the near future, I will be doing 3:55 or 3.73 rear gear swap as well as
5th and 6th gear swap (CTS-V's .80 and .64) then the car will be shipped to
Korea where I'll be enjoying her whenever I go visit.

BTW, the car made 576whp and 546wtq on the dynojet at DC.

Enjoy the pics....

Car looks good. :2tu:

I saw it there being worked on. I also had the * DC steering rack bushings installed followed by an alignment.

Nice setup! The picture with your shifter, is that console original? I need to replace mine in my 04 and I like the color of yours. Do you have a wide angle pic of this area?

As there are several threads concerning this topic, can you tell us how the handling is noticeably improved and by what means you used to test this.
Thanks.

Looks really good. Needs to be lowered more.
Although I dig the slammed looks but as the car will be driven
mostly on the street I didn't want to have the clearance issue
going over the speed bumps and etc.

After some spirited drive on the twisty canyon road I've noticed that the

car feels more predictable when pushed hard. Now I can 'comfortably'

exit the fast corners. Obviously I didn't push the car to the limit but the

overall handling transition was far better than the stock. It also rides

smoother and firmer yet not bouncy as stock while exhibiting less body

roll. I've noticed that the car is not as tail happy as before.

Nicely done! Good HP, Dan's dyno is conservative and most Gen IV's with that set up pull 550-565HP. Good choice on the corsa too, I need to get rid of the drone. What takes you to Korea enought that you'll have the viper there? Mike

This is the same improvements I noted after changing over to Moton clubsports on my 08 Coupe. Definately a good upgrade.

Oops, a correction on the dyno numbers...

576 and 546 was uncorrected. The corrected dyno numbers were

556whp and 527wtq so my car is no different than others.

I've been taking vipers to Korea since 2001 and it has been a great

experience driving the American icon there. I think there are less

than 5 vipers of all gen in Korea.

I remember when I took a 97 GTS (hennessey venom 650) to Korea

in 2001 I became an instant rock star. Every time I took her out, there

were bunch of cars following behind me trying to take pictures. :D

When I take this car, it is going to be a first gen 4 viper in Korea. :2tu:

Wallbanger, I've got to disagree with you, 2700-3400 is very annoying. I had the corsa in my Gen III and it had drone but nothing like this.

strange , i had the corsa on my generation 3 and the drone was absolutely unbearable, after 90 minutes of hwy cruising my head was throbbing...on the generation 4 with belanger/magnaflow i can cruise on long trips with just a smile on my face , sure it is loud but no drone

i think this shows how subjective exhaust sounds can be and is/are always a tough choice when it comes to exhaust/cats/header combo

Yes, the console is OEM and was a part of option.

It was called 'Light Arc Instrument Panel Bezel, Light Arc Shifter Bezel'

and priced at $695. I will take more pics of the console and post

I know exhaust sounds can be subjective but the drone is... pretty much drone... :dunno:

I had a Corsa track (3") with RT HF cats on my Gen 3 and had an almost zero drone.

I rode in a 08 vert with the full belanger system (headers, cats and exhaust) and the

drone was unbearable.... :crazy2:

Gripforce, excellent look everywhere. Are those MGW polished rings on your gauges?

If Dan at DC installed the motons, Im sure theyre tucked away and mounted nicely.
The gen 4 magnaflow belanger system on an 08 vert is absolutely intolerable.
I got headaches after every drive and couldnt talk to my passenger, or hear my phone (I know I shouldnt be on the phone but sometimes you have to).

I have the corsa catback also and it made a world of difference in the sound. Still screams at WOT, but you can enjoy the ride at cruising speeds and you can hear your passenger/phone withoiut headaches. I also picked up about 8-10 more horsepower with the corsa over the magnaflow. Its a little heavier being all stainless steel, but worth it I think.
Nice color. And DC is the BEST.

I have been wondering about the Gen 4 motor sound also, my Viper guy says it will
be different than the Gen 3 with an exhaust upgrade. I had both the 3in and the 2.5
Corsa on Gen 3s, the 3in with RTs and the 2.5 with stock and Paxton. The 3in was
unbearable even with CCI inserts, the 2.5 was better but still had drone. Which
Corsa do you have? 2.5 or 3 in and what cats? I am leaning toward a custom
system, the speed shop is going to drop the sills and tack a few different mufflers on
so I can hear them but still will be hard to tell drone.

Herc, I think Kobi (Kadeuces) has the belangers cats (as does gripforce who started this thread). with the belanger cats you need the 2 1/2 inlet.

It definitely adds the 'bling' factor under the hood...

but I'd prefer the DC straps since it doesn't add weight.... :D
