Noticed on the 2009 SRT production chart, my Viper is one of 5, and find it strange, thinking that it would be a popular color & stripe combo.

Anyway, curious to what the thinking is, on the future value of Viper low one of's? On the one hand, there are so many of them, and should be even more numerous in 2010 due to all the new combinations offered...thereby diluting the uniqueness of Viper one of's. On the other hand, there is Barrett-Jackson auctions offering (as an example) a 40 year old Mustang, etc., etc., "one of only 10 made in this color"...and the bidding frenzy escalates.

Basically, will Viper low one of's command a premium in future...and as there are so many of them, will it need to be 1 of one?

Not to be a tool, but I would think that the significant damage your car suffered would be the limiting factor in any future value curve.

Not concerned about my car...it just got me thinking. Anyway, it is leased 3 yrs...I'll get the 2012 if it happens, and I like it...or go happily back to F land. As for my 09, there was no damage at all to frame, drive chain, suspension or anything else. Onlysome of the body parts were replaced...and with brand new ones direct from mfgr, and thru Tators. Whoever gets the car when I'm done, will have no problems...along with all service, insurance, and repair CD records..it's the right thing to do.

I doubt any viper (normal production) will hold its value regardless the color combo.

My car is 1 of 3 and is a much loved SSG but I highly doubt it will not bring no more

than 5% money than the less desirable color.

IMO, more desirable color combo like SSG cars will find the new owners sooner than

the less desirable ones.

With all of the color combos available on the later gen's, the idea that being 1 of a few will command a higher price premium is pretty meaningless since virtually every car can claim being one of a few.

Even if it was a relative rarity like the green Gen I's, that doesn't necessarily make it desirable if the color falls out of favor. The B&W cars command a bit of a premium because the color still has the same appeal as it did originally even though they were produced in fairly high numbers.

It will be interesting to see how the SSG holds up. While it is pretty much the hottest color right now and my personal favorite, we may all be looking at it in 10 years asking ourselves what the heck were we thinking back then.

<<value still dropped bigtime with that crash>>

Not my problem, I'm out of the lease in 2012...and was not concerned about my car (yes, surprised to see it as 1 of 5 with what ) thought would be a poplual combo), just the Viper 1 of's in general.

<<I doubt any viper (normal production) will hold its value regardless the color combo>>

Of course, running out and trying to auction off a new 'one of' Viper today won't produce much interest...but how about in 40 years from now, when someone who is 20 today, and may be a wealthy 60 year old collector in 2050. Not too crazy, when you think of the 10's$ of millions BJ has sold in muscle cars (er, sports cars?) from the 1960's etc.

I say just drive the the wheels off and who cares!! I have a 1 of 3 Ford GT and it is worth more than normal GTs, but who cares. I am driving the hell outta her. My son will care more in like 15 20 years. As for me drive them! I ordered a 2010 ACR Graphite with drivers stripe and guess what I will more than likely loose 20 grand in a year or 2. Thats the way our car hobby goes. Just drive and enjoy!!!
