I just did an oil change on my RT and used Mobil one synthetic 10w30. The hard part was figuring how much oil it was going to take because the owners manual and service manual differed in how much when changing oil with filter. Ended up using 8.5 qts.

I always put in 10 quarts of Mobil 1 10w30 fully synthetic.

5-30 or 10-30 is an inferior oil when compared to 0-40 "European formula" or the 5-40 Synth. Diesel oil. Best there is would be the diesel Synth. which is what I will be using next time.

Where would you get the 0W40 or diesel oil from ????

I picked up a bunch of 0W40 from Wally World in Buffalo...Cant say I even looked in our Canadian stores! 
Diesel, that should be much easier. Go placed where 18 wheelers go. Truck stores, etc. Just dont use Motomaster/Crappy Tire oil. Not so good!

Not sure if you have Advanced Auto up there, but ours here carry both.
Nope. Only one we have is the NAPA...

Just picked up the 5W40 Diesel Oil from WalMart today. Will order the filter tomorrow from work.. Factory Mopar..Thanks Guys..

Maybe I am missing something, but why the ** should anybody put oil designed for a diesel engine in a petrol based car. Or means "diesel" something else as here in the Netherlands?

His car is a 8.5 quart car, yours is a later 10 quart car. (Oil pan differences)

You want to use the new Viper Mopar oil filter #5037836AA for the RT/10. I also use this for my Prowler.

I had my parts guy check on that part number and that is the filter that comes from the factory when it is new and is replaced with the 292 filter which is the same but $3 bucks cheaper....

Why use that filter on my Prowler? It makes it go faster.
You might want to try one on that yellow Viper of yours!
It will help you keep up with the red ones. Seriously, I've been using that filter since it was introduced to us, I think, at VOI 9.

For my 01 ACR I buy Mobil One 5w-40 turbo diesel full synthetic at the local Wall Mart.

I also buy my 5037836AA oil filters online from Mopar Parts for $8.22 each. They are much cheaper ($11.95 at dealer) Plus no local Dodge dealer carries them.

Get the Viper filter , and yes it will run you about $3 bucks more, but simply put just think ;
1. better flow rate
2. Drain back valve designed for the Viper
3. Built and designed for the stress of a high performance V10 and it's characteristics under load.
4. Better filtering --- tighter particulates if I remember correctly.
The easy answer is racing improves the breed and the filter for the Gen I, II, and IIIs come from that experience and what Engineers found. There is another filter for the Gen IVs.
