I pulled the trigger and applied for a building permit today for my new garage. Hope to start on it in a couple of weeks. I will have 1500 ft2 of floor space and will probably paint the floor tan with flakes in it. I have looked at U Coat it, Rustoleum, Quickrete, etc. Looking for recommendations for cost, quality, durability, and ease of application. Thanks in advance.

I used a product like the U Coat It with flakes that you sprinkle on while paint is still wet for a portion of the garage but after a few years some spots have chipped off. Most of my garage is carpeted. Glued on and I love it. No pad LOL!! It obviously would not work for oil leakers or snow area owners but it keeps the dust down, easy on the knees, vacuums up easy, and really boosts the sound system I have. About 800.00 total cost for a 2 car unit. If you paint, floor preparation is the key.

My advice is to pay a professional company to do it. Once it is done stay off of it for the number of days they require. If done right there will be no hot tire lifting of the surface.
I used the product that Menard sells. The key was to go one step more and clear coat it( I add the sand in this step ). Mine is holding up great although it is low traffic. My wife's cousin did not clear his and it looks dull and not hold up well. For heavy traffic I might consider calling the pros.

As others have stated don't skimp. I used a do it yourself kit about 5 year ago and it worked great. Problem is that it started to get dull and eventually a few places started lifted due to the hot tires where i park the Viper. Where I park my truck the paint never started to lift. Here is the problem with painting in my opinion. When you go to repaint after several years, new paint does not adheard well with the old painted surface, even when thouroughly cleaned with Muratic acid. I'm looking at either using garage floor tiles or carpet. Professionally painted sufaces will probably last much longer.
I used U-Coat-It in my garage, followed All directions, and my floor started peeling up after about three months
It's only peeling on the original "machine finished" smooth part of the floor, but not the areas that I added onto and "hand troweled" the concrete. So I would NOT recommend "polishing" the concrete if you want paint to stick

I used Quickcrete on my floor. Floor was new so it was easy to apply without much preperation to the surface. Make sure you have enough to do your whole floor. I had to get extra to finish the project and it was a slightly different color (have to look close to see difference) than the first applied.
If you are planning on building a "working" garage this is a great coating. Spills wipe up and clean up easily and it is easy to maintain the floor surface. Iv'e had it applied to my garage for about 4 years and no problems at all. For "Garagemahalls" you could use Racedeck or carpet or tiles.

When my garage floor was new the Concrete guy put down a clear sealer on the floor that they sprayed on while the concrete was still drying. I use the large rubber mats over the concrete and some areas of carpet. The mats are 10x20 and cost about $100.

Did U Coat It last summer, was easy enough to d.i.y. Finnished with clear and a bit of sand here and there. Super easy to clean, mop snow melt, spills etc.
If I were to do anything else, I'd probably have done an extra coat of clear just for good measure.

Moved into my house 7.5 years ago. Had Sherwin Williams "Tile-Clad" product (two-part epoxy rated for auto traffic) put on the garage floor. It has been fantastic after lots of messy work in the garage. Much sturdier than the DIY products marketed for garage floors and it comes in any color you want (lots of standard colors and they can mix custom colors). There are so many varieties that I can't say EXACTLY which Tile-Clad product it was.

There is something called Line X. It is sprayed on. They also use it for truck bed liners.

Yes. I have given it thought. How much is is per ft2? I like it a lot, I just figured it would get into my budget for a lift too much.

Race Deck Flooring is the only way to go. No matter how well you prep for painting, eventually the heat from the tires will pull the paint up. Race Deck's website has a design feature so you can see what it's going to look like. I think I've had mine down for 4 yrs. Just mop it now and then. .There is another, much cheaper option than Race Deck. Home Depot sells commercial flooring tiles for about 79 cents/sq. foot. They are available in about 50 different colors, and simply glue down into place. I have had them for three years now, in the Canadian winter climate, and they are holding up great!

It holds up very well to floor jacks and stands. I did a brake upgrade kit on my 07 Shelby Mustang and had the car sitting on 4 jack stands for a couple of days. The car is a tank. The indentations on the Race Deck bounced back in a day, but the next time I leave a car on the stands for an extended period of time I'll put some pieces of plywood under the jack stands. The back/underside of the tiles are grooved for strength.
Also, if you spill gas, oil, antifreeze, etc. it will not hurt the tiles. If you happen to spill a lot of a liquid on the tile, the grooves on the underside will let the liquid flow to your drain or to the front of the garage.
