poly mounts to improve shifting?

I heard of using poly transmission mounts to improve shifting precision at full throttle. Is this true? I have 37k miles on my car and I think I feel the tranny moving a bit when I'm gunning it, making it difficult to hit the right gear once in a while.

I'm pretty sure that poly tranny bushing will help, but do I also need engine bushings? I'd rather not add extra vibration from the engine if its not going to help with my shifting precision

I'm considering woodhouse

Polymounts will help solidify the engine and transmission but come with minimal vibration as a side effect. Chuck Tator said he put some on his car and took them back off.

Most drivers can hit the gears solidly without them. Some drivers the polymounts will never help.

My factory mounts were toast at 15k miles, at 37k you probably have just the bolt holding the motor in place.

As stated, the poly trans mounts will reduce the shifter moving around under hard acceleration and help with shifting. The poly motor mounts will increase the vibration, though it does settle down some after they get broken in for a while. I don't even notice it now.

I personnally wouldn't put only the poly trans mount in and not the also the poly motor mounts. You wouldn't want the stiff transmission mount to try to hold the motor in position if the stock motor mounts go south on you as they have a habit of doing or you could concievably break the transmission casting.

I would recommend the woodhouse engine and trans mounts. I'm very happy with mine, exceptional quality.

I have both the Woodhouse motor mounts and tranny mount in mine. Vibration was bad for the first couple of hundred miles. After about 600 miles or so, it seems to be back to normal. Can't wait to hit the track this summer to see if it helps my missed shifts from last year.

No problem shifting here but I'd install poly mounts for the additional vibration. Why not? People install a lumpy cam for the same reason.

Did you call Woodhouse Performance (the race team) or Woodhouse Motorsports Division (me)? I have all of them in stock. This is a common mistake as we are NOT one in the same.

CAn you send me a PM with pricing? I have a 2001 RT and a 1996 GTS that I may replace all mounts to poly when I do the motor builds next month.

i got the woodhouse poly engine and trans mounts. I got vibes at 2200rpm now that are bugging the crap out of me. I'm gonna go back to the stock trans bushing and hope that makes it go away.

the differnece between the woodhouse engine mounts was awesome though

The Woodhouse motor and tranny mounts are fantastic. Yes there is added vibration, but it fine to me. Small sacrifice for a shifter that doesn't move at all under hard acceleration.

yep about 1k and some track time. I'm real good giving up some comfort for added performance...but it vibes way too much at 2500rpm...to the point where people in the pass seat ask why its shaking. I'm gonna pull the trans mount out and hope it makes it better. I didnt notice too much difference from the woodhouse tranny mount and the stock one...the engine mount was the big one that made it a lot better.
